GPS question

When I actively use Apple Maps wireless for navigation the built in Toyota Tundra GPS shuts off. The compass on the map screen is working but the Tundra GPS completely shuts off and the HUD simply shows it locked on North but the DIC shows no GPS. Is this normal?

 

Yes, it is normal. Not sure why it does this because it is using two different Antenna (phone and truck), but it does. it is odd considering I can use Apple Maps, Waze, and Google Maps all at the same time.

 

No, it isn't normal for either of you. Go back to the dealer and get it fixed. Mine works no matter if my phone is connected or not

 

dealer doesn't have a clue. i was there yesterday for a recall on the parking break.

 

another concern on this issue. If the Tundra built in GPS is shut down does that mean that the vehicle's ability to report air bag deployment and other Toyota Connect issues is compromised? I would assume without a functioning GPS the vehicle simply would not be able to report where the issue is occurring. I tried to report my concern to Toyota but I guess I don't know how to do that since I just got a lot of canned Q&A .
