So, my neighbor is a prepper. Big time. But, he gives me free beer so I listen...
We recently experienced Hurricane Ian. Although not first hand, I drove down the day after the hurricane to inspect & take care of our home.

This completely opened my eyes to what life is like after a natural disaster or some type of situation where it would help to be "prepared."

I'm slowly building my truck topper for better truck bed camping. I'd love to integrate a mild prepper build.

Asking the group to see if you have any good links, you tuubs or other cool pictures. Bonus if it's a first gen.

Ian really opened my eyes to how much gas I need to stockpile the next hurricane. It was crazy how hard to was to find gas within a 200 mile radius of the storm path.

My bug-out rig is going to be an old u-haul van.

if SHTF, i want it to look broke.

This. If the S really HTF, at the least (as much as it'd kill me) I'd find a way to make it look like a broke down piece of shiat, or buy one of those Chevy K5's. They were pieces of crap (I used to work on/with them while a miltech) but they wouldn't quit.

For a hurricane, buy a small aluminum boat, a good chainsaw, and store plenty of fuel.

Two-thirds of the roads out of my town were under water after Ian. Driving through it only worked for a few hours if you could get around all the stranded cars and down trees until the police shut it down. No gas anywhere for a week. My truck was pretty useless after the first day.

Prepping for the apocalypse and bugging out to some location far away is a complete larp, you could shoot your neighbor with a $2 pistol and take all his stuff. Crackheads will take over the world, they have been living the apocalypyic lifestyle way longer than everyone else.
