I really wanted to get a TRD Pro but with the way things are right now I am just looking to get a SR5. I found one that looks great and has most everything that I would like. MSRP is $44844 and the salesmen is stating that $41906 plus all the tax crap. Is this a good deal ? I am in no rush but worried that prices will climb and interest rates when they start building trucks again. I won't use the $2750 rebate because of the 0.9% financing is a better deal in my area.

I don’t think so at this point in time. I’d think you could aim about $38-$39k plus TTL.

Personally I think you could get it down to 40k plus taxes since you’re in no hurry offer it and let them come to you .

From what I gather right now dealerships are really hurting - if I were in the market to buy I’d shoot for no less than 15% off MSRP. Some manufacturers are offering 84 months no interest and no payments 60-90 days or longer. That should give you an idea how bad the new car market is now.

I'm guessing you are looking at 4X4.
Down here they are offering around that price for SR5s..

    https://www.toyotaofrockwall.com/ne...racted=inventory-listing1-facet-anchor-trim-3

    I like @glowblue suggestion.
Offer them $38-$40K +TT&L and demand 0% interest.
If they say no, leave them your name and number, and wait them out.
They need to sell a vehicle more than you need to buy one.

Don't hesitate to walk out if they don't give you want.
Don't be a dick about it, just kindly decline and ask them to call you if they change their mind.

Both my 2005 and 2014 Tundras were purchased with 0% interest on 5 year loans.
Paid the 2014 off in 4.5 years by adding a little more every month.
With 0% every dime you pay goes towards the principle.

As to wanting a TRD Pro, I guess you've noticed they won't budge on them.
    I have a 2014 SR5.
Over the years I've added leather seats, heated seats, lifting front coil overs and 1" rear shackles, TRD Rear sway bar, TRD Pro grille (although it is more costly with a 2020), BAM exhaust, and all kinds of other mods.
Is it a Pro, no, but it has everything I want on it.

I bought a pro a few months ago. I was looking at a limited first and the first offer they gave me before we did the “me getting pissed off and walking out” dance was $42k. I agree that SR5 should easily get into the high $30k. Although the dealserhip I use told me that the SR5 has high demand so they may not work on them as much.

I have 5 dealerships in the mix and the 2nd came back with $42272 for a truck that has a MSRP of $45772 but something is not adding up as far as his number go. Need to check it out.

Checked out the numbers and they were right.

I should also add the first truck has been sitting on the lot since the first part of January. Not sure about the others.

Here is the pricing I sent you in my first email. This pricing reflects the rebate if you chose to go that route instead of the 0.90% financing.

This is for a base SR5, not one of the TRD packages? I got mine for $45k CAD out the door back in November so I would think you should be around $38k USD or less.

Not in my opinion. Around here a CrewMax SR5 4WD can be had for around 37-38K before haggling.

The ones that are SR5 have the TRD Sport Package and SR5 Upgrade Package so they are not plain SR5s

So you are looking at TRD Sport, not a base SR5. So maybe your price is fair. All SR5s in Canada come with the upgrade package, though

I wouldn't settle for an SR5 when you want a pro. I would say just hold of until things are good enough for you to get the pro you want or look for a used pro, unless you absolutely need a truck. I do think on the truck you asked about that the price is high.

Oh, well, when you put it that way....still no. :p

I bought an SR5 CrewMax 4WD with the TRD Off-Road Package, SR5 Upgrade Package, Blackout Package, the spiffy TRD floormats, bedliner and some other stuff. Before discounts it was $48,061; and I got them down to $41,700 (plus only taxes).

As slow as sales are right now, you should be able to find a damn good deal! You might want to look at what rates you can get on your own, I was able to get the same interest rate from my bank as Toyota was offering, this allowed me to take advantage of the $2000 back offer in addition to getting to 1.9%,

So I just had another salesperson get back to me. It is a SR5 with the Sport and SR5 upgrade packages. Only difference was this one already has the sprayed in bed liner. His price was $41,900 but the way way he put it was in a monthly payment. I did tell him that I was opting for the 60 month 0.9 financing but I kind of thought it was a shitty move on his part. Also this dealer is 380 miles away and I ask to have a price worth driving that far.

Would you counter these offers or walk away from dealers who can't give a good price ?

Don't ever negotiate off a monthly payment, tell them you want the TOTAL COST of the vehicle. You can manipulate the monthly cost depending on down payment and length of loan.

I just emailed the 2 that have almost the identical trucks and offered $37,500 and that I wish to add a few options but did not say what I wanted to add. Figured I would wait until we get the price right.

Why wouldn’t you counter offer? Sales tactics are just that. Know what they are and how to counter them. Don’t take it personally and don’t be afraid o tell them thanks but no.

Keep looking, I found a 2017 "1794" 4x4 with 11,000 miles for 28,500 just depends on what you want.

Well this is what one of the responded to my offer of $37500:

We shot you a really great price on the new 2020 Tundra Sport at $100 under our cost.. At $37,500 that's not realistic number as that would be a $4506 loss on the truck..
