So I am trying to decide between going with a standard camper shell like I have done on my last two trucks or going with a aluminum, more rugged shell. The one that has caught my eye is the go fast camper base.

I use my truck daily for service work, so the access would be awesome on the go fast. The ruggedness seems nice too. We have also put some thought into get a RTT to start doing some camping with our young family, so the weight rating would be a plus. I have a radiant red tundra so I’d be going with a black go fast vs color match ARE. I know it all comes down to personal preference but what say you?

Sounds like an HD ARE or a gofast is in your future. If you can get dual windoors on the ARE color match of choice, then that’s an option. Probably still cheaper than a gofast. But they aren’t the same product. So if the gofast does something the ARE won’t, the go. Fast.

Seems to be a major price difference between the two as well… for me, I can get a CX for 3k where as the GFC is 4k+.. it’s defintely unique, lighter and probably longer shelf life compared to fiber glass. There’s also no foreseeable timeline on delivery for our model trucks. I’ve got my eyes in the GFC as well but not sure I can justify the cost and lack of timeline

I got quoted $3700 for an ARE with windoors, non hd model, so I’m sure it’ll be around $4200 with that upgrade. I contacted gofast and they told me 3 months production time for my truck. Price is going to be $4200, so they’ll be same price.

Gotta drive all the way to Montana to get that GFC. Looks like you’re in Texas? The major cap manufacturers have dealers all over the country.

My buddy has the tent GFC. They’re built extremely well, but man that is a lot of money for a truck topper with a tent on it. I thought prices on fiberglass caps had gotten ridiculous since my first Jason cap from the 90s - then I saw what Super Pacific, SmartCap, and GFC were charging.

Send me his contact information. I’ve contacted 2 different companies here locally and they’re both the same. Don’t see that much difference between dealers for apples to apples products typically.
