    Hey, Guys.
So I just discovered my glove box light and the filament of the lamp was burnt out. So I bought and installed a LED lamp. Nothing came on, So I grabbed a new halogen lamp to see if that would come on, nothing. I tested for power, nothing. I tested all the fuses in my truck and all came out good.
Is there a switch that I'm not seeing? I've searched the forum, google, even my owners manual doesn't say anything.

Perhaps a fuse? Is everything else "working" fine?

Is the truck on when you’re testing the light? I remember mine works when the truck is running or the headlights are on, I believe.

yeah, Truck on and headlights on and still no power.
yup, I check every fuse, hood and under dash and they all gave good continuity. When you say pin switch, where is that located? I don't see a switch in or around my glove box.

You said you checked for power and got nothing, did you use a multimeter? Any chance the polarity is reversed? Flip the bulb around? I know it’s a stupid question but have to eliminate possibilities.

I used my Fluke multimeter and I wasn't getting power to the socket. I did check the polarity to the bulb and flipped it, still nada. I appreciate the questions and I would be asking too.

Yeah, my glove box light doesn't look like that. If you look at the picture I posted earlier, it's just a lamp holder, almost the size of a quarter.

I'll do some more troubleshooting when I get home too. The old halogen lamp filament burnt out so at some point, it was working just fine.

I had my radio replaced several months ago but I never noticed my glove box light until recently. Why do you think the previous owner used glove box wire?

It works, not sure what I did but it works. I pulled the lamp from its housing, I unplugged the connector and for the 4th time, I checked for voltage but this time, I turn my truck on again and the head lights, again and then I tested for voltage and got 13v. I plugged the lamp back in and it works. Fucking automotive electrical, I curse you.

I had the same concerns as you when I swapped to LEDs and found my glove box light was out. I thought I installed the LED backwards but it wouldn't work either way. Put the key in the ignition and kicked it to ACC, and in my case the glove box light only works if my truck has the key in ACC or ON position. Not sure if that might be what was biting you in the ass here but I'm tossing it out there anyway. Also an 06 here. Also went with a T5 LED bulb.

No switch on the 1st gen. They come on with the rest of the dash lights when the parking lights are turned on.
