I have a 2012 rock warrior the previous owner installed nomad wheels (I'm not sure of the offset) with 295/70/17 general grabber x3 MT. Sweet tires but I can't stand the road noise of mud terrains, I'm looking to put some A/Ts on probably Wildpeaks.

I was thinking to go with 285/75/17 which would be about half an inch taller and half an inch narrower, but then I started reading today about people running even skinnier a 34x10.5x17.

I know theres a million tire threads but every ones seems to say different things either oh yeah you can fit 35s no problem to I tried 34s and I get tons of rubbing.

There’s also availability to consider, the skinny sizes are not common and getting spares or even more than one brand in a size is hard. Also most of the specialty sizes are Load E only which even if AT tires are going to be louder.

Id recommend 315/70r17. They’re very common, they’re big, come in light loads, they fit stock suspension, also cheaper options too. This is most “35s” factory trucks run nowadays as well.

I would do the 315/70/17s but I don’t want to go any wider than what I have now. A guy has some pretty much new 35x11.5x17 on marketplace for a great deal but I just don’t know if they would fit. My 295/70/17 already seem close to the limit full turn

315/70r17 and the equivalent 35x12.5r17 on Rock Warrior wheels will fit stock suspension, I’ve done it with two different brands. Narrower same height would definitely fit. Key is stock suspension and stock UCAs.

Does aftermarket uca limit your tire size vs stock?

This will help answer a lot of questions, it's a great channel. If you want to run narrow, then do it, your choice. I'm going to be ordering some yokohama geolandar at4s next week, in either of these 2 sizes.

    LT275/70r18 (33.2")
    Or this size
    275/65/R18 (32.1")

So both tires are 10.8" wide and differ by only 1" approx in height.

I have total chaos ucas and they have very good clearance, likely better than stock. Most ucas have worse than stock clearance due to how they are built.

I did watch that video and a lot of his other videos really great channel!

I wish I still had the rock warrior wheels that it came with. I did find out the nomad wheels I have are +25 offset which is better but not the +50 of the RW.

I think I’m leaning towards a similar size 275/70/17 which would be narrower but smaller than what I have now or since they don’t make 275/75 go with 285/75/17 which would be just slightly narrower but a little taller. I read a post on running 34x10.5x17 and I don’t know where everyone buys them from??

I'd go with 315/70r17 and do what is necessary to make them fit... plastic and maxing caster, maybe space the bumper... but if you don't want to bother, then 285/75r17 has lots of options. 35x11.5 would probably be easier than 315/70, but note that the actual diameter of a "35" is somewhere between 34.5 and 35.0, and you'd want to stick to the low end, 34.5-34.6 for ease of fitment.

Looks like you have a lift. What's going on there?

I went with 34x10.5x17s Toyos at3 LR D1. I really don’t like the wide tire look and it’s been shown how much narrow tires are usually better than wide tires for most circumstances. The 34s should give me just a touch of height on the 295/70s I have now and they weigh 15lbs less per tire! Load range d1 seems like a nice compromise between tough and ride quality. Get them installed Thursday and will post updates.
