For those that have messed with exhaust much do you find less drone in a dual in dual out muffler or dual in single out?? For the sake of the question let's say a magnaflow muffler.

@dirtydeeds Keith, can you comment when you have time?
    Thank you..

    @yandeltx I've only had 2 in 1 out mufflers on my 2014.
I will say the Magnaflow I had had the drone from hell.
I replaced it with a single-out Dirty Deeds BAM system, it has minimal drone...

    Good luck...

Magnaflow will drone badly. Ive tried them on v8s, 6 and 4cyl and ever time there was drone enough to bring headaches on longer drives.

Most aftermarket exhausts are generic, not actually tuned for the Tundra configuration, so they typically lose low end torque. And most drone, but that can be subjective.

@dirtydeeds offerings actually increase HP and torque and you can choose stock quiet or as loud as it can get, depending on muffler length.

Generally, keeping a single tailpipe works out best for our tundras low end power, unless you are running a supercharger.

In my experience between my two 2nd gen tundras and a lot of exhausts over the years, when I did dual exits behind the tires I wouldn’t experience as much annoying drone. There may have been small amounts but nothing annoying or super noticeable. This was even with dual SLP loudmouths which are just hollow cans and are quite loud. All of the dual in single exits I had droned, unless I installed one of Keith’s DD resonators on the tailpipe. The only way a single might not drone without a resonator is if you bring it out before the rear tire and eliminate the axle hoop, which I imagine is somehow effecting the frequency of the waves. Not saying this is always going to be the case, just giving my personal experience with a bunch of setups. The worst drone ever was the Carven catback, which the DD resonator was able to cure luckily.

These trucks perform better with a single out.

Wonder how much "X pipe" fixes the issue with dual.

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
I did a muffler swap at first and went with Magnaflow. While I love that brand, it droned like Hell. I switched to what I originally wanted and got the TRD system. No regrets and no drone. It's a true dual system also. I recommend it but Keith over @dirtydeeds is an awesome guy and won't steer you wrong either. With these trucks, you go TRD or Dirty Deeds.

It has nothing to do with drone. Has zero effect.

When speaking about a 5.7 with stock exhaust manifolds, this is 110% true!!

with long tube headers, best power and driveability is had with dual 3” exhaust.

My bust. You're right he wasn't talking about general performance.

All good. I’m not the exhaust police. Haha. Just wanted to make sure the OP is informed so he doesn’t waste $$ like so many people do.

the only way to get rid of drone is to cancel it out. But there’s other things which can help make the canceling effect of a Helmholtz resonator work better. Tube diameter. Muffler type, size, placement, y pipe placement. Etc.

Creating, or removing drone is a formula. No one thing is the ultimate solution. But a bamuffler is a bunch of tiny solutions which make up a formula that doesn’t drone, doesn’t lose low end torque. And is as loud or as quiet as you want.
