i'm looking at possibly changing from the 20 inch TRD Adventure wheels to the TRD Pro Wheels, what's a good price to pay for on market place ? Just Wheels no tires or anything else. Thanks all

2024 SR5 with stock lift and wheels (approx. +60 offset). 295/70R18, absolutely no rub, it's really not even close. Thanks to the fellas in the thread for helping me out!

I received the components to create a proper spare that a seventy thousand dollar vehicle should have come with in the first place: shame on you Toyota!

Next step: install it into the vehicle and readable by the TPMS. That'll have to wait a few days still.

How do you add it in to your system? Something you can do within the Toyota truck system, Carista App, or dealer?

I've been watching FB Marketplace and they seem to go for $1,200 - $1,500 depending on location. I'm in the Tennessee/Georgia/Alabama area.

I have not done it yet. I have the sensor, wheel and tire mounted and balanced, but that is as far as I was able to take it today. The assembly is so big and heavy that it tired me out. I will drop out the el cheapo steelie and replace it with this in a day or three. The heat wave is not helping either.

    Part 2:

So I compared the two. The supplied spare has a sticker that says "Temporary Use Only", not something I want to use on a full size truck, ever. My truck just cost me another thousand dollars due to penny pinching by Toyota. Shamefu.l To add insult to injury, the spare tire supplied was not even balanced: no weights on it at all.

To program it, my old version of Techstream did NOT work on this truck. However, to Toyota's credit, they made the process easy from the dash options. I went into Vehicle Settings > TPWS > Relearn and here are the before and after results:

So clarify for me if I'm missing something:
Adding an additional, single, 20" wheel, tire, TPMS, mount and balance for your spare tallied up to $1K?

    Lots of stuff!
In my case, I went with a matching wheel and tire to my Toyos but I didn't get the TPMS sensor (should have done that at the time).

My cost was about $900 cdn.

If you used the Michelin that comes with the truck, you could just change the wheel and add the TPMS. That could be done for less if you could find a used wheel on FB or our marketplace here.

If you bought a new matching wheel from Toyota, I am sure that would be more.

Are these the 295/70/18 116S recon grapplers? I can't believe those are only 52.5 pounds. How have they been? Seems like a nice trade off VS 35's.

I got it from the dealership with a 2 inch lift. Was not prepared for how much bigger it was than my F-150

It really does look great. I’ve had the same black TRD Pro since last October and haven’t done anything to it yet. Partly because I just wanted to drive it and enjoy it first but mainly because I still have tread on the stock tires. Now that stock tires are wearing down I’m planning on doing something a little more aggressive in the near future. I know 295/70/18 will fit but I also have a friend who swears 35x12.5 will fit. Any idea what lift the dealer installed by any chance?

I’ll pull the dealer installed parts list but it’s from DSI customs. I believe it’s 2 inches

As a lifelong Toyota owner and Toyota technician...the nonmatching temporary spare tire BS Toyota provides on most trims is a friggin joke. What a cheap move by Toyota. Even the TRD Pros come with a steel wheel spare...

Also, thanks for sharing the scale photos of the wheel weight. My in-laws just purchased a 2024 1794 and I have been tasked with finding them a lightweight set of wheels. I now have a better understanding of the stock wheel weight.

I am shopping around for a light wheel/tire combo for my in-law's new 1794 Tundra. We want them out of 20" Trd Off Road wheels and into 17" wheels. My initial thoughts are a 285/70r17 all-terrain tire package.

Any suggestions on a lightweight all-terrain tire? They don't need a thick side wall and will be traveling with 500lbs in the bed of the truck.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @AZEric ,

Our 17x9" +25 6x139.7 Five Stars weigh approximately 24lbs per wheel, and the 17x9" +25 6x139.7 Six Shooters weigh approximately 26.7lbs per wheel.

    https://www.fnwheels.com/17-five-star-and-six-shooter-new-fitments-available-now/

I'd like to explain a little more about the weight of the "Tundra" Five Stars and Six Shooters vs. the other Five Star and Six Shooter models that we offer.

We make lighter versions of both of these wheels in the 6x139.7 bolt pattern, but those versions are intended for the older, lighter duty Toyota trucks.

The Five Stars and Six Shooters that we make for the new Tundra have substantially higher load ratings, thicker spokes and reinforced beads, lips and flanges. The wheels were tested and certified to the most stringent standard possible (SAE J2530). We used a 37" tire diameter during testing as well (larger tire diameters exert more stress on the wheels).

Most wheel manufacturers don't disclose this information, especially with regard to oversized tires. When developing the 17" wheels for the new Tundra my thoughts were that a lot of customers were going to want to install 35" and 37" tire diameters, so we needed to over engineer the wheels to handle the larger tires along with the potential for customers to overland the truck or take it offroad while hauling a lot of extra weight (roof top tent, camping supplies, towing a trailer, etc.).

Despite the strength enhancements and load requirements, we were able to maintain relatively light weights for the Tundra wheels, particularly with the 17x9" +25 Five Stars coming in at approximately 24lbs, thanks to high grade/high purity alloy and an advanced flow forming manufacturing process.

Your OEM 20x8.5" TRD Offroad wheels with P265/60R20 Falken A/T3W tires combination is going to weigh in at right around 71lbs per corner.

The Toyo Open Country A/T III is one of the lightest tires in P285/70R17.

P285/70R17 Toyo Open Country A/T III's are approximately 46lbs per tire.

    46lbs P285/70R17 Toyo Open Country A/T III
    +24lbs FN Wheels Five Star 17x9" +25 6x139.7
    70lbs approximate weight per corner

    46lbs P285/70R17 Toyo Open Country A/T III
    +26.7lbs FN Wheels Five Star 17x9" +25 6x139.7
    72.7lbs approximate weight per corner

Either the Five Star or Six Shooter wheel/tire combination will be right around the same weight as the original 20" wheels with the shorter/narrower 265/60R20 OEM tires. You won't feel any performance loss with the new 17" combo, but ride quality will improve with the 70-series sidewalls. 285/70R17 will fill in the wheel wells much better than the narrower 265mm OEM tires, so the truck will also look much more aggressive.

Hope this info helps. Thanks for considering our wheels.

*Side note: We've been considering offering an 8" rim width for customers who are concerned with getting the wheels to be as light as possible. How interested would you guys be in a 17x8" Five Star with a +25 to +30mm offset that weighs right around 22lbs per wheel? All of the strength enhancements of the 17x9" version would remain. The wheel would just be 1" narrower, which would limit the maximum tire width to 295mm or 11.50", but the weight would be reduced by about 2lbs compared to the 17x9" version.
