Gen 2 / 2.5 Tundra 17" Wheel Question(s) - Long Time Listener - First Time Caller

    Specific to Gen 2/2.5 2007-2021 Toyota Tundras (can't speak for other models)

    Standing by for corrections. Trying to minimize rubbing, cutting, etc. and maximize the ability to air down (within reason) without going to bead locks, or losing a tire (I take the kids and wife with me). From scouring the internet, it seems 8" is the ideal wheel width for 35" tires to execute that endeavor, but that width can preclude some tire options, unless you are running bead locks (I won't). Not interested in fiberglass quarter panels, or a bunch of cutting/fabrication if not necessary.

    Not sure which offset is best for the least rub and maximum articulation.

    You got the right idea, any of those combinations would work. All of those will result in some inside fender trimming, at least removing the mud flaps. If I was picking again it would be the FN wheels and a load C 315/70r17 wheel. I think at this point just got to pick what you want/what is available/what you want to pay.

    Below should be a decent comparison of OEM vs aftermarket wheel options - with 8.5" wheels combined with the largest tire (315/70/17 ~ 35/12.5/17) of the group above as a worst case.

    What I do not know, and appreciate help on, is if the Fox can/reservoir really requires a limit of 5.5" backspace on the Tundra when mounted.

    Appreciate the help and hopefully this is useful to someone else going through wheel selection for the first time and confused as I am!
