Hello everyone!! I have a question about mpg?? I have a 2013 tundra 4x4 5.7i, lifted 4”, with 35x12.50.20. I get about 11 mpg. What are somethings I can do to boost the mpg? Nothing done to the engine. Thanks Kris Johnson

    drive more down hill.

My last Tundra was a 15 with a 6" and 35's. Thats about what I got.

    Gears 4.88 or 5.29

Tune Bully Dog or Dap(personally don't know anything about the DAP)
    Exhaust

Luckily we have someone that can help with all of that... Keith from @dirtydeeds sells all of that stuff.

I had his exhaust and got my Bully Dog from him on the last one. Just ordered exhaust for the new truck. Though I am stock height with this one(for now)

I Don't believe the gages or mpg read out , I don't look at how many gallons it took to fill , or how much it cost to fill. I just step back and look at the TRUCK AND SAY , WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like you’re right on par with your MPG‘s. It would help if you recalibrated your speedometer because that is reading slow as well as doing a gear swap to something like 4.88’s

If you want better mileage get rid of the lift and put on reg tires, if you dont you are going to continue getting that poor mileage.

I get about 13 stock but i drive 80 - 85 MPH on the Thruway twice a day for 20 minutes and then back roads the other 10 minutes.

Cost about 100 a week in gas or roughly 5200.00 a year just in fuel.

I thought about buying a new Rav4 and my dog said no. She likes the back seat and window, she went on and on about needing a truck.
We got in to a long discussion over gas, oil, tires etc. She said I had no idea what I was talking about and it is only money. Blah blah blah

So, I kept the truck and the dog won

Try changing your driving habits. Since I’ve gotten older, I take longer to come back up to speed after leaving a light and coast more/less unnecessary braking. I also try to coast uphill and speed back up on the way down. Most of these tricks are just out of mere fun and seeing how much I can cheat the MPG reader. I often get 40-45 mpgs on my Camry.

Y’all are funny!! If I can squeeze out a few more mpg that would be great. A tune and exhaust. What about a throttle body spacer? Let me know. Kris.

Look at buying a VW TDI, solved my mpg issue. Went from 14 mpg to 38 mpg. Truck still great for road tripping, 80 mph I get 13 mpg with a DAP tune running 91 octane. Want better mpg get a car, keep the truck for fun.

Take your foot off the gas. I’ve had my truck for three days. 2014. The guy who owned it before me left the avg gas mileage set. He was getting 12.5. I reset it and over three days I’m getting 17.5. And I live down a mile and a half of dirt road (the kind of dirt road you can’t drive more than 10 mph on and if someone is coming the other way at the same time one of you is backing up)

Sounds like the guy before you unhooked his battery. Hopefully not to clear any codes. Just sayin...there’s no way to increase your mpg that much in 3 days.

No I mean I bought it and the gauge read avg gas mileage 12.5 mpg. I drove it home (2 hours) and the gauge never changed not even a tenth. Meaning it probably hadn’t been reset in a year or two. The next morning I reset it. My mileage has been bouncing between 17 and 18 for the past couple days.

But that ride home was probably some of the worst gas mileage that truck has ever seen. But man, that thing can be fun to drive.

Gotcha, just seen too many people thinking they can change that mpg with a few days worth of “old-manning it”. I’d give anything for 17, inching closer to my first 13, but I’m rarely on highway and it’s short, infrequent trips for her.

I naturally drive like an old fart. I’m that guy you get stuck behind when you’re late for work. But I’ve gotten too many speeding tickets in my 20s. Now my wife calls me ‘Old Feather Foot”. My daughter slouches down so her friends don’t see her.

My last tank of gas, I got 11 mpg lol.

Best I did was pure highway, 70-75 for 3 hours. Got 17.5 mpg.
