    Hey everyone.

I am seeking more info on this issue I have been having intermittently with my 2023 Tundra TRD sport premium. Aside from a slew of other issues that are mostly small, I am having an issue with gas tank and gas gauge.

I am intermittently having my gas gauge read full or just being completely inaccurate. I have read it can be from parking on an incline. I have read its because they didn’t use two sensors to take the average. Is there anything else it can be? My truck is very rarely parked at an incline if at all. I have even been asked by Toyota if I am filling my tank up at an incline. What gas station has pumps on an incline? I was asked if I fill my truck up while it’s running. Which I don’t and in NY I don even think you are allowed too legally. This inaccurate reading can happen not once a week to everyday. It’s totally random. Sometimes it will go a couple weeks without doing it. Sometimes it will do it and then 20 miles down the road it will be accurate. It doesn’t make sense. So I just keep it full now pretty much at all times.

This leads me to a second issue pertaining to the gas tank. My truck came with a 32 gallon tank as per the window sticker. I have never once come close to filling my tank up to 32 gallons. I can’t think of a fill up in my almost 19K miles where I was able to put more than 23 gallons it if that. I am fairly certain this truck doesn’t have a 9 gallon reserve. I have had the pump over fill this tank a few times. Where it just didn’t click off and kept going but again never more than 22-23 gallons.

I have owned this vehicle since mid July of 2023. I drive a lot for what i do for work, usually 30-40k miles a year on my personal vehicle. This is tundra issue is becoming a huge nuisance because now I am constantly worried about being stranded on the side of the road in an area with no cell service. It’s even more worrisome to me now that I was told if it happens and I am towing my boat I would basically have to have to leave my boat on the side of the road and take care of that myself. I bought a Tundra because of its reputation for having outstanding reliability.
I did my homework and read about the problems they were having but figured the internet is just filled with complaints unfortunately I find myself now one of these complainers.

I have started a case with Toyota. They acknowledge that this is an issue in the Tundra. I was told “there is no fix” from a tech and also same words from Toyota Brand engagement or whatever they call themselves.

Sorry for the long winded post but what is one to do these days when there is literally nothing to be done? Is it so wrong to be a consumer that wants the product they purchased to work correctly. I am tired of being told “we will take care of it.” It’s obvious they can’t when you are told to not even bring it in because there is no fix and it’s a waste of time.
