Has anybody retrofit a built in garage door opener into a 2nd gen that didn't have the option from the factory? I searched around but couldn't find anything on the topic the results were all "how to program".

Curious if anybody has any info, is it an easy mod or more involved than it sounds, etc...

Swapping to a mirror that has Homelink (garage door opener) built in is probably the easiest way to go. Especially if you have a powered mirror of some sort already.

No powered mirror unfortunately, I would love an auto-dimmer but it appears despite being SR5 trim this truck has the same mirror technology my '86 4runner had

Genius! that thought never occurred to me. Out comes the credit card and I know what I'm doing this weekend.
