Long story short, replaced my fuel pump once and it worked for about 6 months then died.
I've moved at this point so the warranty from the mechanic didn't matter because i'd have to get the truck 200 miles to the shop. I ordered a new one from ebay because it was cheaper. My friend and I replaced the assembly, hooked everything up, replaced the battery and it fired right up. We drove it a few miles and all was good. The next day, it kept losing power, then was back not starting completely. I went to Autozone and the dude swears by the Dolphi unit I ordered. Now I'm waiting.

My biggest issue is I understand getting what you pay for but for it to fail overnight AND I'm on my 3rd fuel pump in about a year. Either something else is the cause OR i'm very unlucky.

    any ideas/opinions?

Ebay and Deplhi unit link included below.

My mom went through this with her Dodge Caravan. There were metal shavings in the tank, getting into the pump, somehow.

Get the one from the Toyota parts counter. How long did the OEM one last compared to the others?

I'm not ENTIRELY sure if the one in the truck when i bought it from a guy was OEM to be honest. Do you really believe that the OEM one is the right and only way to go?

I'm not against OEM, I'm just broke. lmao Thank you for your assistance.

Just throwing this idea out there but my friend says it COULD be a bad Ignition Switch which could also be why it works intermittently. Obviously there's more things than fuel/electrical possibly happening here. I'm just a guy who wants to learn a little. just needing guidance. This was just a shot in the dark and a request for 2nd opinion.

The OEM one is less than the one you linked from AutoZone. :notsure:

Ahh, I wish I would have known that. There's a stigma as you know for dealers being outrageously priced. I honestly didn't even look but I guess I know where to stop on the way home.
