I have a 2013 tundra, 4.6L. The fuel pump is running excessively. When the truck is off, no key in, the pump will intermittently run by itself. Also when key is turned to the on position but not started the pump will continue to run. Usually the pump will come on to build pressure then kick out. This has over time killed my battery. Relay is fine, changed the pump, cleaned all the ground connections, has anyone else had this issue?

On tundras, the fuel pump only runs when cranking and when the truck is actually running. The pump does not run in key “on” position for priming or anything like that. What you may be hearing is the evaporative emissions system that makes a sound that sounds like the fuel pump when the truck is off. It will usually initiate 5 hours after the truck has been turned off.

If it's not the evap system then have you ruled out the fuel control module. Usually they just die. But worth looking into.
