Finally taking the Tundra in for the fuel pump recall. I was told they will drop the tank and inspect the pump....to see if it requires replacing. Anyone else familiar with this? I assumed they would replace it if my vin showed up....

Had mine done several months ago with no issues. Was under the impression the pump was being replaced but also saw sources stating parts on original pump were being changed. Seems labor alone to open pump, swap parts, and risk leaks wouldn't be worth not just changing part. I can assure you since this is an actual recall Toyota would not risk some mechanic making the call on the pump being good or not. The liability of it failing later and you stuck on the middle of a freeway after Cooter said it was good is too much. Also, the recall took many months to even take effect due to no parts so yes, you will have new pump installed.

I just figured the service person was clueless. I have a friend that is a mechanic there so I guess I could as him also
