Posting this here because I was installing Firestone air bags to mitigate the effects of towing 4K 3-4 days per week when it happened. Sorry if it’s in the wrong forum (noob here).

Anyways I installed a small compressor and Firestone air bags on the 2014 trd DC today. I am certainly not well versed with truck modS but, there was no drilling, no special tools, and I gave myself the whole weekend to give it a go.

Wanted to take it for a test drive when I was finish, coasted down my driveway and when I went to take off I couldn’t keep steady RPM. When i hit the gas the truck would rev and buck then drop, repeating this cycle. Had to hold the brakes and get it back into park when it stalled.

I did have to remove the fuel pump control to install the bags but it was simple enough and I could not see any damage to the unit, although the obvious answer is that this is what happened.

Wondering if anyone has had problems like this before. I really don’t know how it could have been damaged but it seems like the logical answer.

I would unplug it and spray the connectors and plug it back in. I had a similar issue with a fuel pump relay. Would be running the speed limit and then nothing. Sometimes it would be so quick I barely noticed it happening. Took a while to figure it out but was just moisture causing a bad connection.

Unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to troubleshoot any further. It’s my work truck and I rely on it for my business. Got her towed to a shop and they are saying that the fuel pump needs to be replaced....what a coincidence....

After diagnosis, parts, labor - $1,500

I appreciate the response though. I hope that ends the repairs for this year. Just replaced my whole engine harness ago 6 weeks ago due to rodent damage :(

Hey no problem. Very odd coincidence. Anything is possible though.
