Since I live in AZ I am wanting to have my front windshield tinted with UV film. Does the headliner need to come out partially to remove / replace the windshield? I am just wondering how intrusive the process is on a Tundra or if different from most vehicles.

Are you tinting the windshield or replacing it? The windshield does not need to be removed to tint it.

My local tint guys said the he only does the tint on front windshields if they are new or if he removes them. I guess this is to properly trim the edges and allow no edge to show at all and because of the electronics most vehicles now have near the mirror.

Something seems off. Ive had both me and my wife’s windshield done in a UV film and windshield didn’t have to come out. Never heard of that. Might want to go get a second opinion.

I would check elsewhere to be honest. My entire windshield is tinted and you can't see edges anywhere.

Yea. Don’t let him take off your windshield just to tint it - my wife’s Volvo has at least twice our sized electronic eyesight type system and has full tint and looks factory…

Sounds to me like someone is trying to charge for extra services and never actually do such.

I've never had a windshield removed to have it tinted. You're being sold snake oil.

And to answer your question, the headliner does not need to come out to replace the windshield.

Ok, maybe it is this tinters policy in order to get more $$. I thought maybe it was because of the forward looking electronics. This guy did good work on my side windows, but tint companies are a dime a dozen anymore so I will check with others.
