    Hello all and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

What better way to spend Christmas than to consider which front speakers in install into your Tundra.

Please note, I have searched extensively to establish what route to take, but to no avail since all other rite-ups are JBL related.

I have a Non-JBL Double Cab (2006 model). I have already installed an aftermarket Sony XAV-AX1000 Double din unit into the truck of which I absolutely love and highly recommend to anyone looking for a touchscreen stereo.

Has anyone got any advice which speakers and or mounting bracket work for this? I'm aware of Crutchfield but have heard that people have had to modify what Crutchfield had sent them...

Thanks in advance and hope you are having a blessed time.

    Dave

I highly recommend Kicker or Rockford Fosgate speakers. I had em in previous trucks and loved em. I cheaper out this time with Walmart Sony speakers and I'm not impressed despite powering them with a 5 channel amp instead of my pioneer screen. I will likely replace with kickers in the front doors at least, when I upgrade the stock tweeters.

I used Kickers for my 2006. The mounting brackets Crutchfield sent did not work and I just ended up cutting out original speakers and reused the brackets.
Had to do some minor soldering for wiring on the brackets. Everything worked out well and sounds great.

There should be a window track mod that sets the window back 1/4-1/2 inch in the event the speaker you want is slightly too big(deep). Ive heard it being done on a 2000-2003 Tundra AC cab. I'm not so sure about 2005-2006 DCs.

Dirt Deeds injectors, Addco rear sway, AEM dry flow air filter, last ever set of Stan's Try-Y headers, Borla full custom exhaust, front level, wheel spacers, and lots of electronics.
I've got the same non-JBL 2006 DC with 5.25" 2 way Kickers up front, but it looks like the front doors could have fit 6.5". And 6.5" 2 way kickers in the rear. I've also got a 900w 4 way amp to power the door speakers and a 300w self powered Rockford 8" sub under the front passenger seat. If I ever change out my door speakers for Rockfords I will try to go 6.5" component up front, but this system came from my old 4Runner and I'm satisfied with the sound quality.

I used wiring adapters and speaker mounts front/rear. The physical mounts I got from Crutchfield, the wiring adapters from Amazon.

I don't remember exactly which model Kickers I have, they were purchased from Best Buy years ago. I remember there being plenty of room behind the magnet where nothing would collide. The adapters fit without interfering with the door panel.

I replaced all of the JBL stuff in my 06 DC I bought everything from Crutchfield and it worked great! By replacing all of the JBL stuff it basically turned it into what you have so the brackets and everything should work fine.

I put the crutchfield brand components up front and memphis coaxial in back. It's a budget system, but sounds pretty good to me I do have a JL sub sitting on the back seat also.

Id buy some tweeters. They should have an inline filter to only give you highs! I just put a set of infinity reference series in my honda and it was noticeable over stock. All my speakers had already been replaced but those. Or return the kickers and buy a component setup. Your doing all the work so go the extra step and do it right. Just my thought.

I could install these speakers coming in the rear, then install a component setup in the front? (if that is possible)

Installed Rockford FG all around my access cab a few years back. The slight mod needed with the factory speaker holder was pretty minimum. Hardest part was getting the door panels off. Toyota made the install process simple.

If you want concert level sound, great repro, best bang vs. buck is JBL's "Club" series which can be had at Crutchfield all day long and they'll send the adapters also. Comes as tweet/mid separates with crossovers.

There's a reason JBL's stuff is used for so many live events. Haven't seen Kicker or Rockford monitors at any live music or club venue in my lifetime. But I see you bought the Kickers, and I'm sure you'll be happy with those, I'd put in rear and get JBL separates (Club series) up front. You want to keep your kids and tweets up front paired if possible.

I'll use Kicker or Punch subs in my vehicles all day, actually have 2 Kicker DVC 8's in my AC (though I prefer JL), but for anything in the highs and mids, and higher lows, JBL all the way.

    And JL amps :D

I would. You already have a tweeter location up front and components aren't much more than coaxial.

You'll need new brackets for the rear speakers
