So I have read on here and the tundra subreddit that grille guards are a “damage” multiplier. Since that is a no go, I was wondering what your opinions are on the CBI bumpers. They seem to be made of full steel and pretty sturdy. They also allow for a winch to be installed.

What exactly do these kinds of modifications to the front and rear bumper do to the safety of the vehicle overall?

There is a covert bumper by CBI as well that allows for a winch to be installed and doesn’t seem to mess with the sensors or overall safety. Depending on the comments here, I may go with the covert.

How is a grill guard a damage multiplier? If you didnt have one the damage would still happen and could be worse? What am i missing…

CBI covert bumper, I have one. Yes keeps all sensors, but you do remove an aluminum crash bar to install the CBI steel. Assuming it’s all been vetted by CBI and safe.
