I had a leak from my transfer case that after investigating determined was the front out propeller shaft seal.

I took to the Toyota dealer and it sounded like the guy took a long time to get it fixed, or was frustrated.

anyway they completely gooped my transfer case on reassembly and wanted to get your guys opinions on this.

Despite me not being super pleased with how messy this looks, any concern with the amount of sealant used here?

Not very good pride in their work. The mechanic really left a mess of sealant all over the place. I would clean it off, hopefully the transfer case does not leak anymore. Good luck!

I would be concerned that the inside of the case is just as messy with sealant.

This is exactly why I don’t take my vehicles to dealerships and do the work myself. It’s like a mechanic’s nursery there.

I’m guessing he did it by himself. Anytime you are using FIPG, it’s best to have a second set of hands to avoid this issue and getting it everywhere.

I’ve often wondered when the guys who build them in San Antonio take such pride in their work why the dealers hire monkeys who don’t?
