My truck has what I can only describe as an occasional front end shudder.

It doesn't do it all the time and I can't pin down the exact criteria that causes it. It's like I hit a bump a certain way, it shudders for a few seconds and stops. Never at high speed. Not all the time. Pretty much random and intermittent. New tires...old tires... doesn't matter. Tire balance is good. Been doing it for a while.

It streers just fine. No pull or anything. Has always passed inspection (no ball joint issues or anything when they check).

Anyone have a WAG as to what may cause this?

    Too many, but not enough....
Does it happen with the wheels straight or when you are turning or both?

Seems like the shop would catch those when they put it on track and check it during an inspection. They are an inspection requirement.

The components might visually be ok, but you may want to lift up the front end and check for play. I doubt those inspections are super thorough, probably more visual based to make sure there arent grossly obvious issues or modifications.
