I’ve read that some have replaced the front diff drain plug with those from Kaon. Others have used the Lexus 14mm as a replacement. Has anyone ever used the 24mm steel bolt being sold on Amazon? Looks similar to the one sold by Kaon. Wondering if its worked for those who have.

I am preparing to change front diff fluid and checked to be sure I can remove the drain and fill plugs. Was going to replace the drain plug with the Lexus 14mm plug. I found this https://www.autopartsco.com.au/KS0127 Which one on Amazon is it ?

In Amazon I searched for a front differential drain plug for Tundras and a few stainless steel ones with 24mm bolts rather than a hex appeared. They also appear to have copper washers. Not sure how good they are so I wanted to see if anyone has tried them.

It's been awhile since I did my front diff fluid, what's the problem with the stock plug? I remember it being something but I reused mine without a problem.

As usual: the previous guy who touched it was overzealous with torquing it down.

Notorious for getting impacted on and then getting stripped when trying to remove them with the hex bit.

For something as cheap as a drain plug, there is no way I am "trying" some unknown Chinese POS off of Amazon.

If your plug isn't rusted out, get a long 1/2" breaker bar and a proper 10mm allen socket. 18"- 24" of leverage will make it easy work to remove.

I recently did my front diff fluid and can't figure out why this is so difficult for people lol

Go with the Lexus hex head plugs. Allen head plugs are more prone to strip, and I hate the fact that Toyota continues to use them.

I've replaced the front diff plugs on my '03 Tacoma, '18 Tundra, and '16 Sequoia all with the Lexus 14mm head head plugs

I recall doing mine (been a little while), and had no issue reusing the OEM plugs for front, rear and t-case. I did replace with new OEM crush washers.

I haven't had any issues with mine, either, until this OCI. Apparently Kong was on the loose at the dealership when I had a leaking axle seal replaced. I purchased Snap-on allen sockets specifically for this job and even that has failed to break this thing free. It's frustrating to say the least.
