Hello everyone, I’ve been bitten by the Audio bug lol. I have a 23 tundra SR5 non jbl….I recently purchased a set of
    Focal RSE-165
component speakers for the front and rear doors. And Infinity Reference REF307F for the dash

The focal speakers sound great way better than the oem speakers but the infinity speakers probably made the biggest difference.

the problem is that when I raise the volume to 30+ the driver dash speaker will pop and get distorted, I tried switching the speakers around to check the speaker but they all do it when connected to the driver side dash. Does anyone have an explanation for this or an idea on how to fix it.

I’m new to Audio, well at least since high school when I installed an amp and sub in my truck but that was a while ago.

to install the speakers I used ********* dash speaker harness

Did you replace the head unit? Simplest explanation is that the dash speakers may be getting a full range signal - especially if you are running an aftermarket head unit - and your bottoming out the voice call, causing the popping noise. Those little infinities aren't built to handle any bass. They need to be high passed around 120 hz 12db/oct minimum to take any kind of power.

If you are at all handy, a simple capacitor (properly sized) inline with the infinity will limit bass. Crutchfield used to sell something called a BassBlocker that wired inline with the speaker that was exactly that - a small capacitor to block bass. You would need to wire it in a way that it one blocks bass from the dash speakers and not the door speakers.

Yea that makes sense, I have the stock head unit, I’m adding a 4 channel amp with an Lc7i and a mono amp for 2 10” subs sometime soon.

it’s interesting because only the driver side speaker does this, I will look into the bassblocker, I guess for know I will lower the bass on the head unit
