Front aero spoiler on hybrid

Picked up my 4X4 hybrid limited OR 3 weeks ago. noticed it didn’t have the front active aero spoiler. The dealer didn’t know anything about it. Said they would contact corporate.
answer was that the hybrid doesn’t get the spoiler because it doesn’t need the additional aerodynamics as it already gets improved fuel economy. (a trd pro on the lot also lacked the spoiler). anyone have a (non pro) hybrid? If so, does it have a spoiler?

I think its because you got a TRD OR, but I could be wrong.

 

My Limited non-hybrid TRD OR has the air dam. I would prefer it didn't as it causes issue with after market bumpers.

 

Same. I want the CBI Covert bumper and hope someone comes up with a viable delete option soon.

So they must be right about the Hybrid thing.

 

Are you in Canada? I noticed specs are much different in Canada. In the US pretty much all models except TRD Pro and SR get the active spoiler.

 

I have the active front spoiler/air dam on my Platinum Hybrid, and yes I'm in Canada.

 

For Canadian trucks, any Off Road or Pro model has the spoiler deleted.

 

I have the limited hybrid no trd package and have the air dam.

Yeah he’s saying the dealer said it’s because the hybrids don’t need the extra gas milage lol from my understanding most OR don’t have it!

I have no air dam on my Canadian Hybrid Off Road Limited. This is great for when I put the CBI Covert bumper on!

 

I just picked up and SR5 OR and was surprised that it did not have an air damn.

 

Probably better that it doesn't if you plan to install an aftermarket front bumper

 

I wasn't planning on replacing it, especially considering the active aero. However it not having it wasn't a dealbreaker and I'll be more inclined to get an aftermarket bumper and winch down the road at some point.

 

I have no air dam.. don't really want a motorized one but would prefer the front to have a fixed lower spoiler.

 

2022s with TRD OR pkg had the auto air dam (except Pro) but in ‘23 they dropped it from US models with the TRD OR package.
I’m glad it’s not there because I’d just end up hitting it eventually with Hwy road debris ( even though it’s supposed to be clutched to fold back on impact ) It’s all plastic including the mechanism.

 

I have 1794 with TRD OR, what exactly does this thing look like?

My build sheet says I have it. I didn't see anything that looked like it. If I don't have it, I am good. Don't need that crap hanging off the front of my truck.

 

When parked just look up behind the front bumper. It will be folded up behind. To deploy it manually, start your truck, shut it off and right away hold the wiper control arm up to Mist position for 3 seconds. It will drop down. When you restart the truck and shift to Drive it will retract immediately. Normally deploys at 37mph and retracts below 25mph

 

I have a 23 limited hybrid and I have to front spoiler and I hate it. Can’t wait to remove this thing

 

What’s the hate? If I had one I’d have already slapped it into a piece of retread tire on the Hwy. Its supposed to have a slip/clutch for impacts. Curious how that’s held up.

 

Grille shutters are not the front spoiler.

 

I just don’t like it to be honest mainly cause of not being able to add a new front bumper /skid plate which would mean it needs to be removed. And honestly it’s a big truck so that little flap doesn’t help mpg in my opinion especially running bigger tires. So it’s kind of pointless in my opinion. well for me at least. and that’s another thing that scares me is what’s gonna happen in the colder months with ice or debris in the road which honestly I didn’t even think about until you said something. Long story short don’t think we need a mechanical windscreen too many moving parts should have just made it apart of the front bumper’s

 

I’ve got a 2024 Limited Hybrid TRD OR and do have the active air dam. Would’ve preferred it didn’t because I was planning on putting a CBI bumper on.

 

Take the air dam part off, thats what I had to do when they put the OR Lift Kit on, the motor is still there, but the actual dam was removed, it was pretty easy, I did it before taking it in.

 

Remove it and the motor and stick one of these in there.

YT says active spoilers were deleted from all TRD OR models in ‘23

 

CBI offers a delete kit for the active spoiler for $95USD.
I'm sure as time goes by they will come down in price.
It looks to me like a jumper that plugs into the connector harness.
