Hi all, I am joining this forum after taking a new interest in my own maintenance on my truck. Recently went in for a 30k service, and was asked to pay anywhere from 200 to 1000 based on "good, better, best" dealer recommendations. $350 for diffs and xfer case? No thanks.

Anyways, Im 38 married with 3 kids. Wouldnt call myself knowledgeable about vehicles, here to learn from others and even pass along what I learn.

Thanks, will do. Probably a good place to start to find effects of the chemical for snow the city uses here.

You betcha, I declined everything but the synthetic oil, lube u joints, and torque shaft bolts........I am skeptical though....as they only charged $55 for all that.

After much research, I am changing oil this weekend on front/rear diffs, and xfer case. Glad I decided to DIY, was reading the dealers tend to use wrong oil.......ie. 75W-90 for all three. I know there is debate on this subject for owners.

Yep, it is. Used to go there a lot until I got my own smoker LOL.
One of these days will try the BBQ truck about mile south of Hickory House. "We put the south in yo mouth" is the name of the food truck.

Haha saw that. Have yet to try. What kind of smoker? I have 30" masterbuilt. Only done pork shoulders. Dry rub only no wrap. Turns out pretty good.

Cabelas brand, which I believe are made by Camp Chef. Believe it's 34" x 19". Done pork butt, ribs, salmon, burgers, etc. Summer is coming so will venture to other meats soon

    Welcome from CO.

That’s not a horrible price considering the price per quart of lube oil.

If you need any help, one of us Colorado members would help a brother out.

Thanks! 8 quarts at average $15 a quart is what I am getting. The oil toyota is supposed to use for the xfer case is 75w toyota genuine, and us $55 a quart. Thats $110 for the xfer case, i went with Ravenol 75w after reading through this forum and others.

you can trust everyone but the guys with the white trucks. they've got this weird thing about white being a fast color and are liable to lead you astray.

i think that only works if you're actually in the south...

    wQAevTxPkw3bGBwz66u4X3a9OQL7HsnX_T0sSCHl_3612a2a171055c685b3df45382f1578d50b42e3c.jpg

i use stevinson too for some things but on the east side. so far no complaints. they've treated both myself and the truck very well.
