My 2006 DC 2WD TRD has about 130,000 miles on her. My mechanic replaced my upper/lower control arms and ball joints at 89,000 miles along with 4 new tires and rear Bilstein shocks. Now I'm experiencing that same banging/creeking noise that i heard the first time. Reading forums, those parts should be good for 90,000/100,000 miles. That whole bill was $2,700. I cannot afford to pay for that fix again. I need advise. What should i say to my mechanic, who also happens to be a friend.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! Have you tried re-diagnosing the source of the sounds? There may be a totally separate cause. I'm sure your friend would be willing to help with that considering the change you just dropped on him.

A mechanic generally does not guarantee part life. If the parts are shit, that's not necessarily his fault. Unless you're implying he did a poor job on the installation in some way. But 40,000+ miles after he did the work (3 years of average driving to drive 40k mi) Im not sure there is much reasonable recourse to hold your friend mechanic accountable.

Have him diagnose it again. Maybe it’s something different. The last fix lasted awhile so I don’t think you can blame him.
