Foxbeam Foglight Bezel Fitment

Just wanted to see if others running this kit had similar fitment issues. I was VERY disappointed.

I replaced the factory foglights with new housings and LED bulbs a few months back. Holy crap are they bright and light up a very large area.

Just for funzies, I decided to grab the Foxbeam mount kit and some Diode Dynamics SS3 Pros. I love DD lights, by the way.

The fitment is so far off it's not even funny. Since there's some play, I moved them up a bit but the gap was just.....larger than I thought it would be. I ended up pulling them and going back to the prior set up. I ordered new bezels, white lenses and now mounts and will swap them for my smaller DD ditch lights.

As the OEM fogs can only be run (from factory) with low beams, I'm gonna see if I can add a hot lead through my switch panel to run them independently as well. Just curious if mine was an anomaly or if that's how all of those shrouds are.

 

Is it possible you have an aftermarket bumper skin, as in someone had a minor incident and replaced it, and maybe the opening isn't quite the same diameter as OEM?

Did you follow the install instructions to the letter?

I had a small install problem, but after adjusting, they fit evenly with an even ~2mm gap around the perimeter of the housing. It's not a perfect fit, but it definitely fits better than what I'm seeing in yours. Given it's a cast part (best I can tell) there should be zero variation in the part itself.

I'd ask you if you confirmed the adjuster is fully seated, since that will make the housing push forward, but I'd also warn you based on my install problem linked there, you don't want to use any significant force on the housing.

 

Yeah...I watched the install videos. Only install issue I had was a few of the shroud tabs broke...they're super tight. It was fully seated...adjuster as well. With regard to the bumper skin....that might be a possibility. Either way, as above, I'm just converting them to ditch lights with the new parts. Was just curious if they were supposed to fit like mine did or....

 

I mean, I don't feel like mine fit that sloppy. But I also bought directly from (Josh?), and not from Diode Dynamics. I don't know if the ones I purchased were manufactured the same as you. It's totally possible something changed.

I'd be lying if I told you I felt they fit snug. But I understand why that ~2-3mm of outer gap exists: If it wasn't there, you'd have no up/down adjustment. And let's be real, if you haven't taken the time to aim them, or you didn't ballpark the adjusters in to have roughly the same threading setting as the OEM, you may be pitched too low/too high, which would leave excessive gap top or bottom. When I installed mine, I made sure to check the adjusters before and kept them in the same ballpark. First thing I did after install was dial-in the beam alignment, and I found one light was out a couple threads, the other was out about half that.

I personally like the light output, it casts more out and to the side than forward than the OEM did, and the beam is more concentrated.

 

I do know from experience that the DC's need Sequoia foglights to fit properly. Mine would wiggle up and down when I used the ones that 'fit a Tundra'. They did fit better than in your pic, but perhaps that may be the issue?

 

IIRC, Foxbeam says the kit is for Tundra and Sequoia. But you may've just nailed the issue.

 

I'll check mine when I get home later. But I think mine have a decent gap and I was surprised by it. But you have to get down low to see it.

Sorry it took me way longer than I thought to get the pictures. I also swapped out the adjusters on mine because they were broken. And I managed to break a bezel when I took out the passenger side. Which apparently I had the bezels on upside down. The arrows didn't line up. I have a decent gap up top, but I also aimed my fogs all the way down to adjust for my lift and get people to stop flashing brights at me.

 

I broke mine too on install. The design is good, but not sturdy enough on the outer posts. I reached out. He sent a replacement part.

 

Makes sense on the fitment gaps for adjustment purposes....

 

Ya it’s a little brittle. Probably because it’s getting exposed to cold and warm temps right now. You can barely see the glue on at about 2 o’clock on my passenger side. But so far it’s holding together.

 

You could probably use the stock blanks and have a more snug fit and have the light adjustable inside the blank. That how I had them setup on my old truck.
