I just installed the fox 2.5 coilovers on my 21 tundra. I originally had a spacer lift that gave me a 3 inch lift but i replaced it for these coilovers. The height from the tire to the top of the fender was about 8 inches with the spacer lift. After i installed the coilover the truck was sitting at 10 inches from the tire to the fender. I went and got it aligned thinking it would fix the issue but its still siting at the same ride height. I measured both the fox 2.5 and the stock coilovers with the spacer from the top hat to the center of the bolt hole and both measured about 26 inches. Am i missing something here? Should i go in and adjut the preload to get the lift to lower? Based on what i read for every 1/2 inch you get a 1 inch lift, i gave it a 1 and 1/2 inch preload but i was getting almot a 6 inch lift.

If the OE strut and spacer are the same length as the Fox coilovers, I’m guessing the spring rate on the Fox coils may be slightly higher than the OE coils causing the higher lift? I really don’t know.

Also, you say you gave it a 1.5” preload. How did you measure that and how much thread is exposed on the coilover shock?

Need more info. I also just did Fox 2.5 PE. Originally Fox comes with 700lb springs, meant for more weight. I was above what the CO should have been. My are 0-2 and I was at 2 1/2+. I took all the preload I could put and was still above by about 1/8. I decided to switch to 600lb springs to solve my issues. First off I am 2wd, so 700lbs was too much. Second the 600lb also ride much better than the 700lb that the CO came with. If you are 2wd, you might want to look into a 600lb spring.

I think the coill might be 650 lb but i didnt do a good job checking the specs, mine are the fox 2.5 with res. But based on specs these are for 2-3 inch lift so from factory they were already at 2 inches and the preload put on them raised them another 3.

well that logic makes sense. they were at 2" when you got them. you added another 1.5" of preload adding 3" more lift ending at 5" give or take

Pre-load doesn't equal lift. Fox comes with 700lb not 650lb. Are you 2 or 4wd? Fox sets it a nominal height, lift will vary. 1" of preload isn't always the same across all CO. Like I said, my Fox 2.5 supposedly came set at 2". I got over 2" of lift. I then back off on the collars, about 1/2" and my truck didn't drop but 1/4+ of an inch.

My truck is a 4wd i mainly went with the heavier coil cuz i didnt like the nose dive when i hit the brakes. But yea i backed it off an inch of preload and its still sitting to high. The 700 pound spring is probably accounting for some of the lift like you mentioned. Ima fine tune it more tommorow.
