Im replacing some old (15 years) fabtec coilovers on my 1st gen. I want to get something nice that will ride better than these stiff fabtecs. The Fox 2.5 coilovers (880-06-420) seem to fit the bill but I saw that there may be issues with them hitting the brake lines. I can't get a straight answer from any vendors about this. Is anyone aware if this issue still exists?

I should also ask if there is another coilover that will have a comfortable ride. The truck rarely sees more than gravel and dirt roads, as well as highway use. I currently use SPC UAC's.

There's some info about the Foxes and the brake line situation in this thread. https://www.tundras.com/threads/fox-2-5-with-external-reservoir.86736/#post-2219737

At the very least, maybe ask the vendor you're interested in purchasing from to send a picture of the lower shock perch. If they have the smaller perch, you'd probably need to contact Fox directly to get it switched out.

Another shock I can recommend personally is the King 2.5s. I switched to them from another brand, and I've been running them with SPCs for over a year. If the Foxes fit the bill for you, so will the Kings.

Contacted fox and they said if its been made within the last two years that the problem has been fixed with the taller bottom spring perch. However I saw a youtube video posted in 2021 of a guy who installed a new set that did not have the fix. I am still unsure what the best plan is here.

On a side note, how does Icon compare to King and Fox? I am looking at the Icon 2.5 extended travel.

Been down this rabbit hole lol. Anyways king, Fox, ADS all use a progressive valving. Icon on the other hand uses a digressive valving.

I looked at the options, and changed my mind several times before landing on ADS 2.5s. My wife’s sequoia is on kings. Both setups are great.

At this points it's looking like Icons are the only shocks available, the only Kings I have found are not extended travel.

Another question, if I set the coilovers for a 2.5" lift, could I use a 1/4" top hat spacer to get another 1/2"?
