I feel like I'm getting ripped off, two quotes to fix problem of transfer case actuator, one at 5900 and one for 6900 dollars. Cost of parts 2k and 3k. I see pricing online for considerably less, anywhere from 600 to 1500 dollars. One quote listed 18 hours of labor. WTF?

If you search the forums you can find here a variety of much less expensive DIY fixes. Some are as simple as "apply some voltage to a single 12V wire and your actuator will 'find' it's place again" and others get more complicated to disassemble parts of the actuator to free it back up. This isn't a fix for the light-hearted though, it can get pretty involved, as you're finding out with the quotes to just straight-up replace it.

This is why I check my breather hoses and cycle the 4WD Hi and Low at least once a month, keep things moving around. I hope something you find around here helps you out!
