So I bought the tyc fog lamp assemblies since I have the wiring present for them, I also got the relay and sourced an original fog lamp switch from a parted out vehicle. All that works.
The lamp assembly to bolt hole doesn’t line up on the top hole of the bumpe. Could this be because I need a new bumper support and bumper or is the part the wrong fit?

I could get a small piece of 1/8” thick flat steel and make an adapter for the top support I guess.

You’ve got the right part. I think the post you’re looking for is on the bracket that attaches to the bumper. I remember being puzzled during my assembly as well.

I have that. It’s what the bumper is going to attach to. I believe it’s going to go through the hole on the bumper that the top hole of the fog lamp is near but not on. I had a hit a deer in it years ago and messed up the front bumper. Maybe this bumper isn’t to oem spec on that post. The bumper mount that the bumper mounts to looks newer than 2002

Mount the brackets to the bumper first. Then mount the fog lights.

Well I guess I removed the bumper the hardest way possible with how I did it then.

That's the awesome part about mistakes: After you make one, you probably won't do it again. Furthermore, if you post about it on a forum like this and someone else on here reads it, they learn about the mistake and might recall how to avoid it. You just made us collectively smarter by sharing your fuckup. THANKS!

So I feel really dumb now. I took that part off, and of course it all fits perfectly. The hole on the bumper was so close that I thought they fit together.

Don’t feel dumb. You recognized the need to reach out and did so. Your bumper and new lights will be assembled correctly. That’s a win. I’ve been stumped numerous times and needed another set of eyes or someone wiser than myself to get me to the finish line on a project. Never stop learning.

Meh, if you're serious, consider changing your words: You feel enlightened with a sense of clarity. You can't gain knowledge you already have, so instead of feeling like you should've magically held this knowledge about a topic you've likely never dealt with before, recognize you were simply ignorant of something before, and now you're wiser.

People have somehow managed to pervert the term 'ignorant' in the last few decades to mean "stupid" instead of "not knowing about". It's OK to be ignorant. Ignorant doesn't equal* "stupid", it equals* "ripe for learning". Knowledge on this topic is shared today to enlighten you. Now we're all smarter, less ignorant. Now is time for you to feel enlightened, learned, not "dumb"

Win-win. Glad you got it together.

[IMG]I’m very happy with the result. The grey bumper paint had flaked flakes off and also rusted in places. I sanded it, put phosphoric acid based rust remover on the rust, sanded, and finally used 1.5 large cans of rustoleum spray on Bedliner. I took a torch to the plastics to remove its fading. I put new grommets under the cowl and siliconed them in as well. I did have to cut the cowl a small amount to make the Ravi ditch light brackets fit (this is normal)

I’ve had this truck a couple of months shy of 20 years now and I love it.

Every time I start to do it there's a chance of rain next day. Would really like to give it a bit of time to soak in.
