Anyone done anything interesting with their fog lights? (round)

I'm doing a proper HID retrofit of my headlights and was wondering if there's any interesting upgrade options / ideas for the fogs.

I see lots of LED bulb upgrades but I also see lots of folks posting about the glare in the fogs for those.

Ton of stuff for the 2nd+ gens - I wonder if you could retrofit one of those in there?

    Thoughts / experiences? Thanks!

Would be great if fogs from other toyota models worked in these. Not sure if any do, but if it swaps at all with tacoma fogs then there's all sorts of options.

that would be amazing if it were true! few decent options for the later generation tundras as well.

seen this a bunch on the later gens but not much for first. seems like it'd require a bit of fabrication maybe.

Try to stick with a true fog type beam pattern. You can research it on SAE website. All the specs and heights should apply. My favorite lights on my truck are the fogs with PerfectFit bulbs inside. Seems the 2000-2002 have a better fog light assy that allows a truer wrap around type fog beam projection versus the later spot type round types.

saw a post on the tundratalk forum about retrofitting some baja design fogs. still waiting to get let into the facebook group he posted the write up on. made me wonder if there's the potential to retro fit something like these into that space. almost tempted to buy a junk used fog to hack apart and see if there's any potential there.

Anything is possible. Make it happen. A prototype is a good place to start.

Yes, that's been done many times. You need a blank plug (from a bumper without fogs) or you can rig a bracket behind the light. Most people dont like the square peg in a round hole look though.

Has anyone installed these? If they’re relatively simple to install I’d be all over it

Trimmed the blanks down to use as bezels.

This looks great! What do the plates bolt to there in the second photo? (I haven’t pulled my whole fog apart yet)

They bolt into the sides of the fog housing. I made a couple holes just past the tabs slots. The trimmed blanks still snap in place.

Ah cool. Yeah I was wondering if you were self tapping into those indents the OEM light looks like it snaps into. So just a bit behind all that.

Kinda tempted to Amazon prime a bunch of stuff to test fit different potential options and then return. But this looks pretty straightforward.

I was thinking maybe the 2007 style fog light buckets could be fitted in there, but I never got around to trying it out.

yeah i saw someone over at tundrasolutions posted about using those! he did a write up as well but im not getting "approved on the 1st gen tundra facebook page he referenced ha.

i really like that both those and the rigids come in SAE fog options.

the actual light assemblies (not the trim sleeve part) on the 07 tundras and the first gens look super similar in terms of the little side posts that they snap in with. super curious to measure diameters on those...

Lets see night pics 23ft away from a wall and some 3 feet away from wall!

I want to see that sweet fog beam pattern.
