    What’s wrong with stock?
The other day I saw this foam between the windshield and dash. I had an appointment at dealership for oil change and asked them about it. They pushed it back in place and said it was part of dash. They said if it bothered me that much I could have dash replaced.

My questions are: What is the foam for? Can I just cut it off and call it a day? Will I get windshield noise? Will it cause dash squeak? IMG_8339.jpg

My 22 is doing the same thing on the far right side of the windshield. I wouldn't cut it since it's there to seal between the glass and dash. I just pushed mine back into place.

I think it is just a gap filler.

Man... piece of garbage 3rd gens...

:p I kid, I kid. Same thing happened on my 2018. Just take a panel tool or putty knife and push it back down into the gap. I put some pressure on the opposite side of the adhesive to get that to re-stick to the dash and didn't have issues after that.

I am about 99% certain that this foam is only for noise reduction for where the dash meets the windshield and to prevent the dash rattle on the windshield.

I noticed this on my ‘22 about 2 weeks ago. A strip was poking out near the dash speaker on the passenger side. I just ripped it out and threw it away…

    My man :monocle:
I was searching for an answer to this exact same problem. My winshield sun shade poked into the gap. The foam's sticky side got stuck to the shade's edge and came out with it. It was severed since I was in a hurry to go and yanked it apart.
Looks like no biggie and the foam is nothing special. I may find something similar to fill the gap.
