Family is thinking about moving to Florida. I know there is little to no snow in Florida. But it’s is a state surrounded by ocean, is there a lot of rust issues with vehicles down there? Thinking about moving to Jacksonville, I’m originally from Hawaii and rust wasn’t a huge issue but some vehicles did have issues. Thanks!

I'm a part time resident of Alabama staying right on Mobile Bay. What I see are storms kicking up waves that spray my truck and travel trailer with salt water. I simply just spray it off with fresh water the next day and I'm not seeing any additional signs of corrosion. I don't think anyone living a mile or so away from the water would ever see this environment.

As stated above, we never had an issue being only a few miles inland from the Gulf near Sarasota. We didn't really get breezes, it always seemed to be that it was either really still or blowing a hurricane, with nothing between.
The only warnings about rust that I ever heard was when buying a used truck to keep a look out for ones that had been used to launch boats.

    Lots.
I grew up in Jacksonville and spent most of my time at various beaches in the area surfing but also riding on dunes (back in the day, not allowed anymore) in a '73 VW and later a '77 Land Cruiser. These vehicles were always at the beach and on salt water wet sand for years without any real problem. I always rinsed them off underneath with fresh water if they got particularly wet and nasty at the beach.

The newer trucks I see with rust issues around Tampa now are usually guys who haul larger center consoles to the beach that require backing the truck into the water to some degree at boat launches. Lots of steel rear bumpers that show signs of rust popping out .

I always think if Houston/Galveston (essentially a Houston suburb) when people talk about rust from ocean/beach.

Houston vehicles are fine and most are 30-45 miles max from the shore. However Galveston vehicles are a different story, but the island is only 2 miles wide at best and surrounded by water on all sides.

Long story short as long as you don't live right on the shore or park there 24/7 you will be fine.
