Hey, new to the forum and looking to buy a first gen tundra soon.

I found an 04 limited that looks pretty good, going to hopefully take a look in person this week but one of the pics looks a little bit off to me.

    upload_2021-4-25_12-29-29.jpg

Looks like the carpet was replaced with a vinyl floor, never seen this in other tundras and it doesn't seem to have been done very well..

Any thoughts on this? Thank you!

My thoughts are that it looks horrible and I hope the carpet is in like-new condition under the vinyl.

Yeah it doesn't look good, my guess is the carpet was probably trashed but still.. they could have at least tucked/trimmed it better lol

Ill get a better idea of the condition tomorrow or the day after when I go look at it.

    Thanks

Or it could be at a dealer and they are protecting the carpet similar to the below pic found at a dealer. In fact if you zoom in on front floor area, it looks like what dealers use.

Have a link to where you found pic ?

Spend the money and go with weather tech, best mod. I took them out yesterday to clean them and the carpet under was like new.

That's maybe possible, guess we wont know until I can see whats underneath it, but you are correct. The truck is at a dealership and they are asking a lot for it IMO.

If the carpet is trashed you could use it as leverage to negotiate the price ;)

Seems kind of sketchy they're covering the whole thing....maybe they're still in the process of cleaning out the blood and urine?

I would assume the worst and that it has to be replaced entirely. If they were in the process of replacing it, they would have advertised it.

That looks like replacement aftermarket Vinyl floor. There will be nothing under it

I’d at least dock them for the price of OEM carpet assuming it’s still available

I just installed Vinyl in my buddies t100 and am about to do an FJ80 and my Tundra. Vinyl is cool and was an OEM option on older Toyota pickups.

It can be redone and replaced for like 200 if the install was poor. Done right though they are sweet upgrade from Carpet.

Blimey! 20k is a lot for that girl, but she sure as hell looks good. I got mine for 7k less with 100k miles. You might be able to find a superior deal elsewhere

Yeah I agree. This evening I actually found one a few hours away asking 7.5k but I was still at work. 4 hours later it was already sold lol

The carpet looks pretty sketchy. A quick Google search shows you can get 1-piece aftermarket fitted, molded carpets for about $200. Negotiate that off the price, and it's only $19,799. :eek2:

That is a terribly done vinyl replacement. There is a vinyl replacement available for about $200, I hope that's not the one I have seen because I've been considering it. Same company has regular molded carpeting with insulation for roughly the same price, available in grey, beige, or black.

@bmf4069 no I haven’t but might! Last I looked nothing ‘molded’ was available for our AC. The molded is the key. I wonder what that Mass Backing one is all about?

I’ll like to do a Charcoal Color in my truck.

This is the Brand I just did on T100 with buddy (this is the Tundra version obviously). Molded and seemed solid, ill be ordering one in next week or 2 and trying on Tundra.

If you do get Vinyl just make sure you can do it when its warm out or a heated garage. Workability changes massively with every degree.

Have you seen the marketing Weathertech pays for? I've never seen an ad for replacement carpets in every damn magazine ever printed.
