Hey group! I need some help with wiring my floor board lights. I had it all done but it was connected too the outlet for the driver side floor board light. This was fine as I wired it throughout the whole truck (passenger and back seat). My biggest problem wasn’t I didn’t want them to come on just when I opened the door. I wanted it to stay on when my headlights were on. I tried re-wiring it this time tapping into the illuminating wire. Idk if my tap isn’t hitting the wire or if this is not the illuminating wire. Also, which wire is the ground?

I ended up just adding a relay to the overhead dome lights and adding a switch under the radio unit. If you want them to turn on when your headlights are on, just add arelay and have the trigger be the headlight power. I used the dome light as the trigger so the footwell lights would be subject to the 20 minute time out feature if I accidentally left them on. These are the ground wires. Also, agree with @NewImprovedRon , use Posi-Taps.

Okay so I should tap into the headlight switch because I don’t want to have to add a switch. When the headlights are on I want them on. So what wire would I need to tap into for it? And thanks for the recommendation on the posi-taps. Will definitely switch to that.

@NewImprovedRon where do you tap the ground wire when you use those? And I don’t think there is enough voltage to power it all
