Im have quite a few rock chips in my hood. Im trying to fill them in as professionally as possible (without repainting the hood.) My process so far is to

    1. Clean with rubbing alchohol
    2. Sand with 2000 on a pencil eraser
    3. Clean with thinner
    4. Primer with spray paint primer thats sprayed in to a cup and then brush on with a really fine brush.
    5. Block wet sand any overage
    6. Clean with rubbing alchohol
    7. Dispense color match paint pen (from Amazon) in to a water bottle lid. Brush on. This doesnt look like single stage paint. Its very sparkly.
    8. Wait to dry
    9. Block wet sand with 2000 grit
    10. Clean with rubbing alcohol
    11. Clear coat in same manner
(same paint from Amazon, except clear)
    12. Wait until dry
    13. Block sand smooth with 2000 grit.
    13. Block sand with 3000 grit
    14. Compound with da
    15. Polish with da
    16. Wax

The finish looks really good. Same smooth texture and sparkle, so i think it mostly looks good, but the paint is noticeably darker. Would a paint shop be able to get a closer match? The paint is 6t8 timberland mica. So, a very dark green

Any tips or things im doing wrong in my process? Ive never done this before

It sounds like you're doing it right. You certainly aren't skimping out on the effort or steps. Maybe the original paint is just slightly faded?
I hear good things about paint from automotivetouchup.com
    @driverdog @Omohundro maybe can help

You’re doing great. As far as the color match check with a local shop and ask them to mix you some that is a better color match. When I get to work I’ll pull that code and check it out.

    I have a question on steps 4 & 7.
4 - are you using the same color primer as is on the truck? I've seen vehicles w/ pink & w/ gray & …. Don't know what is on the Tundrii.
5 - Is the pen absolutely & thoroughly mixed, then mixed some more to insure full pigments dispersal / suspension?

Certainly could be a color issue, but could also be either/both of above contributing to your situation.
