You’re on your way now. I have a buddy with a channel. We’ve talked about YouTube a lot…analytics, algorithm, monetization, etc. There are a LOT of poseurs out there, but you have the distinct advantage of offering something unique and interesting.

The importance of the title and thumbnail cannot be overstated. It’s at least 50% of the game if not more. Open a free account on something like Canva. It’s easy to put text on your thumbnails. When deciding on a title, think of what might be searchable. Also, the YT algo reads the words in your thumbnail, so make sure the title and the thumbnail are different for max effect.

Here’s an example, and feel free to use this if you want. I made it from one of your pics in 2 minutes on Canva.com (for free):
    IMG_5284.png
Your title should be short and succinct: “Is the 2022 Tundra RELIABLE?”
Make people click to find out how many miles you actually have. Think of a handful of points to make; talk for 15 min or so.

You’ll be monetized in no time. :hattip:

@Eurodriver If you want to post videos longer than 15 minutes, you need to get "verified". Its actually quite easy, as I recently did this. I forget where to go or what to click on, but when you get to the page that will verify you, you simply enter your phone number. Then Youtube texts you a 5 or 6 digit code, type the code onto the page, hit enter, and bam! You're now verified and can post longer videos.

Sure thing, and yes those monetization numbers seem pretty daunting, but honestly it only takes one or two videos to take off. One bit of advice: you have to have some longer content in order to get the watch hours up. 5000 views averaging 3 minutes each only gives you 250 hours of watch time (6.25% of what you need). If those views average 12 minutes, now you've got 1000 hours. Video length is a big deal.

    Other video title suggestions:
    “_____ thermal optics review”
“Thermal wild hog hunt out of my ‘22 Tundra”
“What went WRONG in 132k miles?”
    “2022 Tundra on 37s…fuel economy?”
“2022 Tundra build on 37s–yes I actually use it”
“Why does no one SEND IT anymore in their trucks???”
"I have 132k miles...can we NOW say the 2022 Tundra is RELIABLE?"

Whatever videos you make, you can chop <1:00 sections out, crop it vertically, and upload it as a Short (YouTube automatically recognizes vertical videos under a minute in length as Shorts). You can also just film Shorts as well. When a Short really hits the algorithm, views can go through the roof. Tackle the monetization requirements with longer videos AND Shorts. Every content creator "rehashes" content in this way. It keeps the content flowing, and puts you into the Shorts feed, which gets you in front of more viewers.

    Consistent uploading is the key.

See Euro, you've made it! You've already got people telling you how to run your channel even though they watch it for free! Hahaha.

It's not click bait to have a catchy title. Or to upload Shorts. If it's misleading or fails to deliver what the express or implied topic is, then yeah, I'd call it click bait. (Ex: thumbnail of a truck off-roading, but the video is just a walk-around ).

But it's not wrong to make an interesting title and thumbnail to advertise your interesting content. It's also not wrong to want to make money with the time you put into making and uploading content people watch for free.
Why invest the time of making and uploading videos just for YouTube to take all the money?

If you want free videos on your own terms, maybe you can film them yourself? :notsure:

@Eurodriver – exactly. Whatever your thumbnail is, you HAVE to deliver on the topic. Otherwise, you'll lose subs and get roasted in the comments which will lose you more potential subs.

Those thumbnails/titles that make it look like we're going to get to see the truck put through its paces, but they don't even get in the truck or start it up (or like you said, they make it seem like it's a review of an item they don't even own) are terrible click bait.

Great catchy thumbnails and titles that actually deliver–this is the way.

Anxiously awaiting "NOX35 on machine gun slays wild hogs from back window of 3rd Gen Tundra"...
