For most of my life I have owned Ford products, but while everything but the drive trains have gotten better, their drivetrain quality seems to be increasingly an elusive target for Ford, and I realized that Ford must not want my business anymore. Very sad moment. My wife and kids have been driving older Hondas and Toyotas for years now, and my wife's Toyota Camry has been indestructible despite her five block commute. There's a clue there...

When it came time to put a truck back in our family's fleet, a Toyota was my preferred choice, and man was that painful paying near 50K for a year old SR5 with 25K miles! It has less tech than my wife's 99 Camry! Just wow. She's also chin height to me, and the lack of a power driver's seat has turned into an irritant, as I keep my daily driver's seat all the way down and back, and can't even squeeze into the seat of a car she's just driven. A power seat is a big item on my list of things to retrofit. Got to get to know the truck a lot more before I start making changes like that. The temptations for bling are everywhere!

I was like you, Ford guy all growing up but I finally had enough of the problems and repair bills. I just wanted something that I could trust...especially with how expensive vehicles are.

How often does your wife drive the truck? My wife has the same problem so unless she just needs to move the truck out of the driveway or something, she leaves the driving to me.

When my wife drives the truck she uses a seat cushion sold for truckers, in addition to the Seat Jackers I installed for her. I can deal with a little less headroom (I'm 6'1") while she needs to see better over the hood. It's got a lot of tech she's not used to that frustrates her, which will get better with time. Her Camry has power seats but not backup camera, obviously, and she doesn't like backing into parking, either. I'm one of those folks that backs in everywhere I park, so it's second nature to me. The corner sensors make the tight spots less stressful, for sure.

I did install some running boards, so the rest of the family is delighted for the lift, while I find myself forgetting it's there as I slide right onto the seat. :)
