    Hello All,

First time here. I think maybe I messed my first truck up bad. Changed my oil for the first time and overfilled it. Drove 30 miles then truck started getting sluggish. Drained the oil via oil plug to appropriate level after figuring out what I did. Next day started truck up and white smoke came out but not too much. Same for the day after that. Day 3 and truck had a hard time starting. Had to jump start it ( new battery and its good ). Check engine light came on. Codes P0340 and P0345. Camshaft Position Sensor A bank 1 and 2. Just learned what a camshaft sensor is. Not sure why this would trigger that?

Should I change the camshaft sensor and see if that helps or maybe some engine cleaner? Maybe some new spark plugs?

How much did you overfill the oil?
    Did you clear the codes?

you're 100% sure you drained oil plug and not transmission? They are sort of close together.

Yes, I am positive I found the right one because when I bled it, it was black and smelled and felt like oil. Also I checked the manual and youtube.

The code disappeared on it's own. I overfilled it by 5 qts.

    Too many, but not enough....
Not being a dick but I'm genuinely curious as to the process of how you overfilled by that much.

How do you know for sure that you drained it to the appropriate level?

I would have just drained it completely, plug it up, then just refill it to the correct amount.

Edit: Just realized this is a month old post. Everything turn out okay OP?

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
Yeah that would take 2 and a half jugs.

Do Not keep so much oil on hand and this cannot happen again - well at least not 5 over just 2ish....
