looking at a 2018 or 2019 crewmax limited. Sticker is 51k on a 2018 and dealer told me they could come down to 48k. I'm inexperienced dealing with car dealers. How much can I realistically expecting them to come off of the 48k or will that be close to their final price? I'm trading in a 16 Tacoma that they offered me 31 for and I'd be paying cash on the difference.

    Thanks for the help guys!

They should come off a few thousand more. Then have them throw in some stuff like tinted windows, spray in liner, tonneau cover, better AT tires, or whatever you feel like adding.....

If this is the stuff you are talking let me know and I will message how I did it.

I got right at $5k off sticker on my 2018 Limited, and that was when the rebate was only $750 right when the 2018s hit the lot in my area. With the $3k rebate on 2018s you should at least be able to get $7k-$8k off sticker.

    @ncsurveyor -
1st - I think you need to be very specific on what you mean by limited
    is it 2018 or 2019
    it 4x4 or 2x4
    2nd - what package options
3rd - Is that 48k including tax and other fees.
The more specific you are the better answer you'll get. If you're not specific the dealers is going to take you for a ride and you'll end up paying a platinum price for a limited.

Judging by the sticker it's a 4x4 crewmax with the premium package and some extra crap thrown on by the dealer (steps, cheap OEM tonneau, possibly TRD exhaust, etc.). He said it's a 2018, so that $48k price is just sticker minus rebate, so either they haven't actually sat down and negotiated much or the dealer is just trying to bend him over.

The limited crewmax 4x4s I saw were selling for 43k to 44k before TTL...and I think I could have got better but I didnt like the light gray leather interior. It looked too washed out...not enough contrast plus it will probably stain easily. Also leather in AZ is either hot and sticky/sweaty or cold and uncomfortable. I opted for a well equipped SR5 and couldn't be happier.

Auto climate control has been a misnomer for me on previous vehicles. Meaning I'm always dorking with the temp control regardless. The "premium audio" is lame. After market leather seat covers could probably be had for less and look better anyhow....but get what you want!!!

Make sure you get the out the door price, not a dollar more.

I haven't really settled on a package or trim, I guess my question is more of a generalization, if they give me a Price on a truck, how much wiggle room is there? 1k, 5k? How much should I counter their offer and not come off as ridiculous is what I'm asking..

Whatever you do, tell them you don’t want that JBL stereo setup. It’s crap. You should have them upgrade it to a custom setup. I’m gutting mine.

+1, at least $7k off on a 2018 and skip dealer add ons unless they can beat what shops are charging. Dealer got me good deal on bedliner but way over priced on other stuuf like tint.

I got my 18 Limited CrewMax 4x4 almost a month ago. Sticker was 52, I got the truck for $44,300 out the door. It has the Premium package, tint, and I had them add the predator pro steps. Obviously this varies by region, dealerships, etc...

I think you can do a LOT better on a Limited. And no doubt you can get the 2018 for far less.

    Read this thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-want-to-buy-a-tundra.10671/

I used a combo of that method and my bank (USAA) car buying service to get my TRD Pro. No sitting around for hours in a dealership as they try to wear you down. Play the dealers off each other until you get the best price. My local dealer refused to discount the TRD Pro even $1; ended up purchasing from a dealer about 30 miles from home.

You can expect much more off an 18 year model. I would not expect much off the 19's. also try for end of month, when dealerships try to get their monthly totals up.

I requested quotes from 3 different "local" dealers...all within 20 miles of me. They were fighting against each other to give me the best price with the options I wanted. Saved a ton of time and got what I wanted.

They could come down easily another 1,000. Ford and GM are still the greater selling truck companies. Not to mention Tundras have the air bag recall to deal with October 22, 2018.

You should shop around. Thats too high for a leftover 2018 Limited. I would think dealers should be giving those away, i think they have to pay some sort of tax on them. I've seen them going for around $43-44k in my area.

My numbers in Canada were 2018 Tacoma offroad with 5100km traded in and got 40,258. Also got the tundra down by 8k. Left the dealer paying 40,364 out the door. Getting a lower monthly payment and all. This was for an sr5 plus with the 5.7 4wd DC in MGM. Maybe not as desirable as a limited or platinum crew max but go to another dealership and see what they can do. Don't be afraid to let them know they have competition. Good luck and don't be afraid to walk away and say no. They are trained to try avoid you leaving without making a deal.
