Did the first oil change on my Tundra yesterday. Even though the oil filter is in a silly spot. Had to be the first oil change I ever did without spilling oil on my driveway. Toyota cleverly adding a funnel under the oil filter with a hose connection so I didn't spill a drop of oil. My dealer does cover free oil changes but I like playing with my Toy's:)

Did my first at 5k myself, glad I did after seeing what came out. Staying with 5k changes mostly for peace of mind and secondly because manual recommended when towing.

Did my first change at 1k, second change at 3k. I drive less than 5k a year and some of that is towing, so I’m usually changing oil based on time as opposed to mileage.

Just about ever dealer recommends against early first oil changes. Many on this forum also agree due to the oil from the manufacturer is break-in oil. Has different additives and should be left in at least 3500-4000 miles. Changing to early can decrease the longevity of the engine.

I purchased my first new car in 1985. Have always changed the oil according to my schedule. I keep my daily driver for about 7 years and had no premature engine wear. But this is like discussing K&N air filters and Amsoil. Lets agree to disagree.
