Hey guys I'm brand new here and have a question for you all about daytime running lights that I haven't seen anywhere else. I live in Virginia where state inspections are required and my 2005 Tundra SR5 failed for daytime running lights, I didn't even know this truck had any. So far everything that I've seen about them is how to disable them by unplugging in-between the battery and fender wall, so I looked for that and had no luck finding it. Any suggestions?

Post pictures. Remove the battery to help you look around in there. Take pictures.

We can't help you if we can't see.

Also, check the fuse boxes to see if any of them there have a DRL fuse.

Wait, 2005? You've got the little small bulbs in the inside corner of the headlights?

Okay I will take pictures when I get home this evening, and yes there are the little small bulbs on the inside corner. And the fuse box has a drl spot for a fuse but when I tried to put a fuse in there it just dropped in with no resistance.

Take pictures of the fuse box too. Weird it just dropped in unless your truck isn't wired for it.

Do you have a regular cab, an access cab, or a double cab? V8/V6? 2WD/4WD?

Entirely possible a previous owner replaced the housings with DRL housings.

@Andrewh2000 really needs to look at the back of the light fixture and see if there's a wire actually going to the teardrop.

Maybe PO didn’t want them and just removed the DRL bulbs? Easy enough to check.

If you don’t have DRL’s then those little lights are actually “Ditch lights” or whatever they called them when I looked it up a while ago. Mine were both burned out and I just had to put in new bulbs. When you rotate the headlight switch 1 click to tail lights, then they come on along with the corner lights. Next click turns on the headlights. I just leave the tail lights on during the day as sort of a poor man’s DRL then just turn on the headlights at night. But they are not automatic (unless you have true DRL’s) but I haven’t seen those.

I just turn on all my lights all the time.

For some strange reason, nobody pulls out in front of me with headlights on. When I was relying on fogs-only or the lower-power DRL, someone inevitably pulled out in front of me at least 1x per month.
