    2006 Tundra SR5 DC 4x4 V8
    Hi all,

just wanted to introduce myself, finally picked up a 2006 V8 DC 4x4 with 174k miles today! I had been looking for a '05-'06 for a while and this one finally popped up on marketplace. Up here in Alaska I didn't see many Tundras that didn't have 350k miles or cost less than $20k! Had the seller take it in for a buyer's inspection last week, flew down today to have a closer look at it myself and immediately drove it home from Anchorage, AK. This is my first post here but I've been lurking for a while and wanted to thank everyone because this was such an invaluable resource to know what questions to ask and what to look out for! Thank you!

As for the truck. 3 previous owners, spent its entire life in the Anchorage, AK area. Timing belt done 25k miles ago, new alternator, ignition coils and spark plugs 20k miles ago, new leaf springs, front and rear shocks, upper control arms, and rack and pinion 13k miles ago, radiator and LBJs done 10k miles ago. Only things noted during the buyer's inspection were a worn serpentine belt and a valve cover gasket leak. I will tackle the valve cover gasket and ignition coil gaskets this summer.

Knowing what I learned from this forum I took a close look at the frame today and everything looked great to me, comparing to reply #6 by @The Black Mamba here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/2005-4-7l-v8-ac-4wd-frame-rust-assessment-help-please.156887/. Really I was pleasantly surprised by how good the frame looked after some horror stories and picture I had seen/read online. All I could see was minimal surface rust. Cab mounts and engine bay looked great as well!

I am excited for my new truck, upgrading from a 2010 Ford Ranger, which I also love but needed something bigger. Selling the Ranger will also definitely offset the cost of the Tundra.

When we bought the place in Oct. Of 23, it was leaning already. We marked 8 trees to be removed, and haven't found anyone who sticks to their word, and actually shows up, and does what they said they would do, which is safely remove all 8 trees. They are all is some stage of decay, and unfortunately have to go.

Being 85 to 95' tall and between the house / comm lines, it would be best handled by someone more experienced than I, otherwise I'd do it myself.

That leaner is gone. Mom nature felled it for us, and i spent 2 days cutting it up

Im not dead, so thats good.

Rear crossmember that the rear 4 link bolts to, separated from the main rails, and jammed up into the body.

All at 80 mph on I84 west in CT, puling a trailer, wife following behind in her 98 CRV.

Heard clunk, drove all the way home, unfazed, and unaware.

Wife cries every time she looks at it.

I cry over the thousands in parts, I put into it weeks b4

Welcome from NC :hattip:it brings you to your knees when a loss like that occurs especially given the financial commitment and sweat equity it took to get it completed.
