Ok. Proud owner of a 2022 TRD pro. Had a total blowout last night with my 14 year old son.

May want to contact falken, unless you drilled something in the road. That sidewall blowout looks suspicious if no contact with something.

luckily op seems ok after the incident. Would had been so dangerous if he was going freeway speeds. I wonder how that sidewall cracked open like that too. It does look like it might have came into contact with something.

55 to 60 mph. 308 Winchester went off it sounded like. Pouring rain, made to a safe pull off and changed tire in the rain. No damage on tire surface whatsoever. Swervin Mervin

I recall when falken wildpeaks at3w first came out, nobody in the industry recommended them. Few years later with heavy marketing, and youtube reviewers they’re a premium brand Lol

The tires that come on the 2022 Tundra with OR package are Falken Wildpeak AT3WA. That A at the end signifies a variant of the popular AT3W that most people are running. Not the same tire construction. It’s a light duty, less aggressive tread depth and pattern version. And that’s a crazy looking failure. Assuming the tire was properly inflated.

All depends upon what you believe on the internet. Have a set on my Tacoma and wife’s 4Runner. Both sets have over 40k on them no issues other than getting louder. Will probably be what I put on the Tundra when it’s time for new shoes.

Surprise, Surprise …. Toyota says , they’ve had no issues either tire and it looks as though I hit or ran over something. All I know is there was no bump or anything in the road, just a big boom! Tread on the tire face is in perfect condition. 2600 miles. Starting to get pissed particularly after paying this much for the truck.

sorry to hear about your trouble, but I would think Toyota wouldn’t warranty it since the tires aren’t manufactured from them. If it was something related to the vehicle I’m sure they would have fixed it. If anything, you would have to contact Falken tires for this type of issue.
Which tire ending up blowing, front or rear?

100% Correct, there should be a separate book in the glove compartment about tire warranty and what to do for a tire claim. Toyota does not warranty tires that come on the vehicle as factory equipment, the tire company does.

Waiting to here from Falken. Left rear luckily. If it was a front tire at that speed…. Whew!

After redesigning this truck from the ground up, you would think I’d get something more reaffirming than what I’ve gotten so far

The same thing happend to me today, but with 11 year old son. 2023 TRD Pro is two weeks old and at 1,000 miles. Driving the HOV lane on Central Expressway in Plano, TX and boom!...the rear driver side tire blows out. @Falken QA please help make this right. I guess I'll look cool for the time being with a tire sitting in the bed...

I know the perceived 'lack of accountability' is frustrating to you and a blowout is never fun to deal with; especially when family is in the car with you or by themselves when it happens. The tire may, in fact, have failed on it own; but, that is not common.

Something to consider, is that blowouts to tires can occur subsequent of the damaging event. In other words, a sidewall may have sustained damage from a previous incident w/something in the road, a curbing, etc. and that injury may have gone unnoticed at the time, but in fact the tire may have sustained enough impact to cause it to be 'bruised' or mitigated the sidewall's integrity. This is especially true w/P rated tires that are only 4/2 ply rated (4-tread / 2-ply sidewall).

C, D, and E load range tires are heavy and provide more resistance and resilience to damage from curbs, rocks, and crap in the road that may impact the tire (especially in the sidewall where it is more vulnerable).

Just some thoughts to consider when trying to assess blame and when deciding on how to move forward w/replacing the tire(s)...

Good luck on your resolution and on feeling more comfortable w/what your truck is rolling on.

I too have a trd pro swapped out the stock tires for 35s . However local tires shops showed me these stock Wildpeaks are completely different and last at max 15,000 miles . People are having problems with them

I took it in for 20K service and expressed concern with how tires were wearing at 18k miles. They told me I probably needed an alignment. Had 4 wheel alignment with very little adjustment on front driver. The problem was all 4 tires are wearing the same. At 7 K mikes had 1 of the Falkens replaced due to a nail. My advice is don’t trust them. They are too soft and wear fast. Found many similar failures searching the web. Good luck and Godspeed! Think I am going with the Toyo Open Country A/T III.
