Always amazed at how much leaf debris gathers here. Pull back this flap and clean out all the debris that gathers:

This much debris gathered over only two weeks:

I'm parked under live oaks that bomb by truck big time. I put a cheap expanded plastic gutter guard under the hood at the top of the fender and that has stopped almost all the debris.

I like to spray some fluid film or rust stopper in that area for added protection also

I have considered that. I feel like that would trap more gunk. For now, I'm going with keeping it cleaning out and flushed with water.

I just pulled a whole bunch of leaves out of mine a couple days ago. Shoved the hose in there and flushed it all out too. Was shocked at the amount of stuff in there.

I'd like it if mine were fu..ll of aspen leaves and not these dang pin oak leaves. They are the worst.
Thanks for sharing! I'll give this a try.

EDIT... Lol... let me finish this post... and dangit I was just at Home Depot and forgot to walk down to the gutter isle. I guess this is dad-life. Fridge broke, wife is pregnant, daughter was sleepy :D

Wow, thank you for the heads up on this. I found prob close to a half-gallon sized amount of sand in my drivers side well there. it was 6-7" deep! And, I park in a garage, so it must just be from dirt roads, or it has been there since the previous owner took it to the Sahara or something...

I make it a habit, to put the vacuum hose nozzle in, when finishing the interior, I notice it’s mainly the driver side, but I hit the passenger side, just in case

That's slick! Did you find the material at a hardware store and just cut to fit and stuff in the corner?

It's some cheap gutter screens from Amazon.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/buyagain/search/?q=gutter

It was cheap. I think I paid some ridiculous price like 19¢ when I bought it.
