Factory Warranty

    2022 Tundra 1794
    My 2022 Tundra 1794 edition is approching one year old and I want to get the extended warranty as I had on my previous Tundra's. I bought my truck in another state and called to get the extended factory warranty which I got a price of $1500 for 10 year 125 miles; which I am happy. I decided to check with my local dealer where I bought my previous Tundra. Local dealer says they don't offer a factory warranty but something called LDS warranty for about $1K more which they say is better because it covers everything that could break meaning the factory does not cover all components. Please tell me if anyone has heard of this LDS and has anyone experience a factory warranty not covering things that go bad. I think that some type of fluid tube is not covered according to my local dealer. Help me decide which is best. Thanks

    I have not heard of LDS. The Toyota Platinum zero deductible warranty has a written list of components it does and does not cover. Items not covered are things like bulbs, belts, brake pads and so on. I worked as dealer service person and every after market warranty I have ever seen has a list of things that are covered and or a list of things that are not covered. I highly recommend getting copies of both lists and compare before making a decision. A verbal promise that an extended warranty covers everything is not true in my experience as a service writer. $1500 for a Toyota 10/125 Platinum zero deductible warranty is a good price. The Toyota Platinum covers the most components. Toyota also offers lower level plans so you might want to verify which plan you are getting for $1500.

    These are third party companies and I personally don't like them. I had one with a Volvo and in the middle of my ownership Volvo and the third party severed ties so how do you think they treated me when I had an issue ? Just find a good mechanic that you trust. Third party warranty companies and a mess.

    Another thing to remember is not all dealers or repair shops will work with third party warranties. They can be hard to work with and often try to get out of paying for a repair. If you get a Toyota warranty it is good at any Toyota dealer in the US and Canada.

    I had the extended factory warranty on both my previous Tundras and never had any problem when I needed them to cover anything.
    Anyone hear of anything a Toyota Extended Warranty not covering??

    If I remember right on my 2012 Tundra I had the water pump and timing belt replaced under warranty and that's about it. I never used 3rd party warranties and will start now. I wanted to get some opinions; so THANKS for the feed back

    Has anyone had experience doing a claim through TFS on their purchased vehicle service agreement? Do you have to pay the dealer for whatever the repairs are then make a claim to TFS? Or is it handled like your factory warranty at the dealer?
