Ok I have big feet. But I have slipped off of the side step a couple of times.Does anybody know if I ca adjust them away from the truck? I should have looked in the summer but it wasn't a problem then.
Now I have snow and no garage and a hand bandaged up from surgery so I am hoping someone had a similar issue and solved it.
We should get a winter break next month and I'd like to be ready

I don’t think you can adjust them out unless you get some custom brackets made to fit. Other option is to get another type of running boards.

OEM Electric or just side steps? Either way I would think you need a bracket added. I have size 12 feet in Canada ( actually my feet are size 12 everywhere I go ) and have no problems with the OEM Electric

I've got the full length manual step. It was optioned on the truck and the woman needs her step so I thought great. But even she longs for the aftermarket steps that I had on my second gen.
I step sideways or just skip the step.
It does look sleeker but I'd rather have OPD (other people doors) protection especially with tricoat paint. Already have a scar

Your profile says your driving a 2008. Sounds like you've upgraded trucks? Which steps do you have? Pics would be great.

My 88yo Dad commented on mine being “shallow”, but he didn’t mind because they don’t stick out far enough to rub mud/road dirt on your pants like on his truck (where they stick out further). I’m tall enough, so rarely use them, but my short wife likes them.

the federal DOT regulates that these can only go so far out and they are recessed a little bit. Aftermarket would be only way to solve this issue.

Tint and wheels. Decked box in the bed. S and B Cold Air filters under the hood. Shiftpower throttle response controller.
You should be able to add spacers at the mount points. You may need to get longer bolts. Probably adding an inch would be the max. When you lower it more than it was designed for you are changer the "leverage" when you step on it so it would be more likely to give when you put weight on it.

    Are you saying I'm fat.
    Well yes.
Maybe the body mounts are close enough from second to third gen. I have old ones from my first set of steps on the 08.
I don't use them myself a lot as I am tall enough, but she sure does and I like the door stopper aspect a lot. I haven't seen body side moldings in factory paint

Although it looks a little funny, I have the OEM electric steps in the out position. My truck is an SR5 and I added the steps but haven't wired them up.
