I bought my truck earlier this year and I’ve been wanting to replace the hitch, as it is rotted out to point that I wouldn’t feel comfortable towing heavy it with (the rest of the truck is spotless). The problem is that I have the factory hitch that also serves as the rear bumper support. Trucks without the factory hitch used a separate bumper support assembly.

No aftermarket company seems to make a replacement for the factory hitch and an OEM replacement from the stealership is about $1500.

Other than shelling out that ridiculous amount of money for a hitch, has anyone come across a solution? It looks like you could buy a bumper support assembly (made for trucks without the factory hitch) and then install an aftermarket hitch but it’s hard to say if the bumpers are the same or the holes in the frame will line up.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Welcome from NorCal.

Where do you live? I've got an OEM hitch in the backyard that you can have, if you pick it up.

I appreciate the offer but I’m in NY, unfortunately. Ironically, I used to live in the Bay Area.

Wondering if you even checked with a Dealership before classifying them as a "stealership" in your post. I run a dealership myself so I get that you might have had a bad experience somewhere but all dealerships arent the same. Seeing that youre in NY explains a lot as to what you probably dealt with there but some are different, especially us in the south. Below is a factory hitch from Toyota at a much lower price than you mentioned though and thats at retail...most places will discount them.
