Long story short, 1 month old truck was rear ended. New tailgate installed by body shop. They applied their version of bed liner to the tailgate. It started chipping within a week. Owner told me their stuff isn’t as good as the factory. Is there a DIY product as strong or should I Rhino\Linex?

I would expect the repair to be as good as what was original. If they body ship is not equipped to fix the bedliner, that should be outsourced to a vendor that can make the repair and it should still be included in insurance/repair cost.

Id call your insurance company and explain the situation, repair does not meet original specifications.
